St. Louis County Commissioner Frank Jewell’s June 12 commentary in the News Tribune on the subject of water quality missed the mark by a mile. Commissioner Jewell claimed clean-water protections are being lost. His solution was broader authority for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under the 1972 federal Water Pollution Control Act.

Thank you Donny Parmeter for the insightful op ed. Jewell is off the mark, we have strong laws now, we don’t need excessive regulation of people, especially their personal property. Thanks Donny Parmeter for exposing Oberstar on this issue in 2010. Most people were unaware of his “under the table” efforts to advance a bill, that even members of his own party objected to, in the U.S. House. Thankfully we have Chip Cravaack to see this monkey business never sees the light of day again.
