Typical of a liberal reporter that I am sure just loves Obama and Holder. Big difference between what Bush did and Obama did. But like the Obama Administration it is always easier to blame Bush. There is a poster on FB that shows a picture of Reagan and the caption is “This man did not spend his entire first term blaming Jimmy Carter.” How true that is. Now for the facts!
Nobody is denying Bush people oversaw a gun running program. It was called Wide Receiver. They tracked guns TO the border, they worked IN TANDEM with Mexican authorities, and no federal agents died.
Obama’s people revived a similar tactic in 2009. This particular operation was known as Fast and Furious. Except this time, they let the guns walk (cross the border). They didn’t tell the Mexican authorities anything. Then they lost the guns. Then the guns started showing up at crime scenes (one of which was the murder of a federal agent). LAST IMPORTANT DETAIL: Holder DENIED the program existed in a letter to Congress in 2010. Only AFTER CBS broke the story did the DOJ change it’s story.

Rep Issa on Meet the Press this morning said that the Bush Administration dropped the Wide Receiver program as they saw it had flaws in it. Evidently Holder and Obama neglected to see them flaws. Of course not Fast and Furious was a attempt to make a reason for gun control which back fired once the truth came out.

I have watched many hours of testimony in the Fast and Furious case and I do not see this as the author does. I see an investigative body trying to determine what happened in this tragic program which was admitted by Eric Holder to be ill-advised. I have seen Attorney General Holder give half truths and avoid answering any questions with brazen disregard of the authority of Congress. If I were in charge of that investigation I would have thrown him in jail directly from the floor of the house. What has occurred here is certainly not what is to be expected from the Attorney General of the United States.
Also, I did not realize that Eric Holder is black. Does his skin color somehow give him the right not to answer direct questions put to him by our representatives to Congress. By disregarding Congress in this fashion it is vary plain to me that he is not supporting the business of the American people therefore his motive must be more of a hidden agenda. And now the President has tried to cover this with “executive privilege” which is limited to business which deals directly with the President. Therefore now I know that the President at least had some knowledge of the workings of the program called “Fast and Furious”.

Holder only came out against Fast and Furious when it became obvious that this ill advised program was becoming a fiasco. Several BATFE whistle blower agents rebelled against their superiors’ attempt to undermine the 2nd Amendment and endanger innocent citizens of Mexico and the US. One of the objectives of Issa’s inquiries is to find out how high up the food chain the responsibility goes. If some call it “political”, well part of it may be, but so is everything else that happens in Washington.

Nixon faced impeachment over the Watergate coverup. The Obama administrations attempts to cover up F&F are far more grievous. No body died as a result of Watergate. An American Border against was murdered in cold blood by a gun illegally provided to him by the Obama administration. Now, you tell me “…what you really find wrong about this fiasco…”!

also you will find the reason they were not confiscated has nothing to do with holder or the administration letting them across the border. It was lax gun laws in arizona and at the federal level. So this campaign only was ineffective because of bad laws on the books in arizona combined with no law preventing the sale of guns across our border…..hmmm whose fault is that??? it aint liberals thats for sure its the gun nuts fighting for no background checks, reselling to whomever they want, and buying multiple weapons at a time. Conservatives dont want restrictions on gun rights and a consequence of that is mulitudes of guns flowing across the border and into criminals hands. Levi, we’re talking about Holder being held in contempt of Congress. That had nothing to do with the merits of the Fast & Furious program. It was about the ongoing cover-up. Just like Watergate and Nixon, just like with Bill Clinton and his impeachment, politicians usually don’t get in trouble until they start trying to hide things.

You’re combining two seperate issues. The merits of the Fast & Furious program are one issue. Failing to comply with a subpoena to produce documents is another issue. Holder’s failure to produce documents is what led to him being found in criminal and civil contempt of Congress.
We don’t even know yet how much of a role he played in the Fast & Furious program because he’s already lied about it and now won’t produce documents that spell out how much involvement he had. You can’t hold someone in contempt of Congress before you even know what they did or didn’t do.

“fast and furious” reminds me of the plan the CIA had back in the 70′s to drop Budweiser beer on the Ho Chi Minh trail in an attempt to slow down the Viet Minh supply train.
