Local View: Flood proved worth of electronic media

The road to restoration will be long, no doubt, but these are the trials that bring out the best in humankind. Dear Forum Communications,
At last check android accounts for 61% of all smart phone and tablet’s in the USA. Sure, there are more iPads than any other tablet (although that has fallen to only a 60% market share in the past 12 months as well), but other than that Android users out number iOS users 2 to 1. So the question would have to be, where is the love for the majority of mobile device users? Seems like a waste to only market yourself to about 35% of your audience.

Katie,
Thank you for your comment. I’m an advertising manager here at the DNT and I’ve worked closely with our developers on this project. I can tell you that we completely understand your feelings on the matter and you can expect that there will probably be an Android app at some point in the future. We had to cater to the larger audience here and that actually happens to be iPad users. Google Analytics has the ability to break down the statistics for each mobile device that has accessed any of our websites. According to Google the number one tablet was by far the iPad. The gap between the iPad and other Android tablets was so great that you could add up all of the Android tablets together and they still wouldn’t beat out the iPad users. I too found that difficult to believe, but the numbers don’t lie. Thank you, again, for your concern. We do appreciate the feedback.
