Ok…That’s it….I think I’ve now heard of everything. Never ever did I think I’d hear of a tsunami wave anywhere in MN or ND……That’s just not a term that one would expect from two land locked states in the middle of North America…….I guess there could be such a thing either in Lake Supior or in Lake Sakakawea if somehow we had a major land shift, but who’d thunk it in a river?

I would mention that the largest tsunami in modern history occurred in an Alaskan bay as a result of a landslide. Thankfully the lack of water depth relatively speaking in fon du lac limits the potential for this type of a tsunami.
The tsunami in Alaska was approximately 1000 feet tall.
I would also add that lake superior is subject to drudge, tsunami like effect due to air pressure differences, and a bathtub like resonance of waves.
Chicago harbor was seriously damaged earlier this century due to a large seiche.
