It was a picture worth, ahem, clapping for: a bright-eyed seal that got out of the Lake Superior Zoo, lying in the middle of Grand Avenue as if it weren’t sure where to go.

In the context that hero is generally used in, you’re absolutely right, it has little meaning, because it’s used to describe things that are exactly UN-heroic. Given that, I would prefer to think that a seal making headlines for his little adventure is heroic, if only by comparison.

I went to Como Park last week hoping to go to the Conservatory. The place was wall to wall people. I drove through and decided to try again some other day. With all the road construction on University Avenue I don’t recommend going there right now.
