Unfortunately, ND’s laws in this area mean NOTHING without also being highly active in their enforcement. A recent trip to Minnesota where it’s already too late showed me what it will really take to save ND from such problems. There were enforcement people at every single public boat ramp and a group that also cleaned boats leaving. In comparison to what they’re doing what we in ND are doing is really a joke and is not going to prevent the ruining of some of our best lakes in the long run. Until we put in regulations like what Minnesota has, hire people to be out in the field, conduct constant inspections at our borders, and really take this problem serious our lakes are in jeopardy. Unfortunately, our leaders in the G&F either aren’t willing to put the required effort needed to stop these species from invading and destroying our lakes or they lack the leadership abilities to actually get it done. The sad thing is that until one or more of our great fisheries is destroyed, they probably won’t either.
