Carl, do note, that this story comes from the Associated Press that just happens to have reporters all over the world, not just in DC. Also note that this is an opinion peice put out by one of the people at the AP, nor can you find a thing in the whole story attributed to either President Obama, his staff, or even his party.

It is not an opinion piece. It clearly states what would happen if various changes were made to the law. If you don’t agree with them that is fine but it does not make it an opinion piece.

The part that the employer pays is considered taxable personal income for the employee and that employee has to pay income tax on it. The worst part of that is the tax money is going into the general fund and is paying for things that have nothing to do with health care. I’m sure it is a pointless argument for those of you that are oblivious and don’t care.

According to a Gallup poll released in Feb., 72% of Americans, believe the provision in Obamacare, that requires individuals to purchase healthcare insurance, is unconstitutional. 56% of Democrats alone, said they believe that provision is unconstitutional. I personally think, the government is way oversteping it’s authority to mandate something like that. If I want to pay out of my pocket, for going to the Doctor, that is my choice.

I only brought up the poll because it was argued earlier, that it was Romney who was saying the majority of Americans want it repealed. My point is that it is a fact, and it isn’t Romney saying so, it is the American public, even those who claim to be Democrat. But I suppose if you want you can bury your head, and go on believing your crystal ball is more accurate than gallup. So Elton, should we remove the mandatory purchase of health insurance and replace that if you do not have coverage you have to pay out of pocket up front what insurance would pay or no treatment.

We should completely reject Obamacare and produce a package that addresses the need of the individual. I do not need nor want the government to stick their nose in my healthcare.
I am not here to solve the healthcare problems that we all know this country faces but I am here to speak out against the government taking away my individual rights.
Nancy Pelosi was right, once the bill is passed we could take the time to understand it. It has now passed and we do understand it and for many of us it stinks.
If someone wishes to put me on a task force to identify the issues and possible solutions I would be willing but until then I will provide unrequested input into the process.

In answer to your question to Elton, Roger, yes we should do away with mandating you buy healthcare insurance. Government has put in place too many ways for people to suck off of the system. While I was self employed, I paid my own bill when I saw a doctor. If people had to pay at least part of their own bills, they wouldn’t go in for a splinter in their finger, a hangnail or other minor issues they should be using a bandaid on. That is exactly the reason insurance companies have worked toward co-pays. I’ve heard of people calling an ambulance for things that only called for a VISIT to a doctor. Why, because then insurance covered the whole cost. Much of the high cost of health care is abuse. What ever happened to people being responsible for themselves. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him to fish and he will eat for a lifetime. To go with that though, we as a society need to expect him to GO out and FISH.
