Ad tackles dustup over elevator dust
June 6, 2012 at 1:19 pm in Grand Forks Herald
Dust and debris emitted from the Mayport Farmers Co-op Elevator has some Mayville, N.D., residents concerned for their health and urging the elevator to install dust control systems before expanding.
Jeff Bachmeier published a full-page ad in Wednesday’s Herald, writing a letter from the citizens of Mayville to the elevator and its board of directors. Continue Reading

“Bachmeier is waiting on his medical records to see if the elevator could have contributed to his condition.”
I smell a long planned-out lawsuit.

I’m hoping he wins. The Elevator is wrong in dumping all that material on the town; and they don’t seem to care about the damage they’re doing.

Was the elevator in that location before the guy moved there?
If so, the elevator is grandfathered in. If you move next to the airport do you complain about the aircraft noise? If the airport was there first and you still moved there, too bad.
Same goes for the river. If you buy or build next to the river, it is your fault for living in the flood plain.
Look the neighborhood over before moving there!

I have the same question. Why wasn’t that information included in the article? This reminds me of the folks that built houses across the Red Lake River from the ACS factory in EGF and then complained later about the smell.

The Elevator wasn’t there at the time of him purchasing his house. I’ve known Jeff my entire life, and the elevator was built after he was there.

Thank you, Jake. I don’t know why so many negatives for providing knowledgable information other than it contradicts previous posters speculations. The hallmark of an open mind is the ability to change ones opinion based on new information.

Thanks for the info Jake. It’s hard to form an opinion with the few facts the Herald includes in their articles.

Let me Clarify. If you look at the Picture the two larger elevators were built after Jeff moved in. The smaller darker grey structure, behind the larger ones, was there before he moved in.
