This is quite pathetic. Teachers, for decades, have had one of the most insular and protected public-sector jobs in this country. Firing a teacher has become, in many districts, despite sufficient cause, an almost impossible act. They have placed themselves above others in the same community. And now that their job performances are becoming more closely scrutinized, like the rest of us working stiffs, they say they cannot take the pressure and collapse like a cheap house of cards. How ironic for a group of people who are so comfortable evaluating others.
