I’ve noticed over the last few years they are adding foreign words into the contest. One kid from New Jersey got eliminated with “lefse.” You’d think with the huge vocabulary of the English language with all the screwy spellings, they could stick with that language’s word-stock.

Ever notice it’s the home-schooled kids that own the spelling bees?
Too busy getting self-esteem lessons in Public school, I guess. Maybe they need more public-school counselors.

Public schools have dumped rote learning, which is key to spelling, arithmetic, science. The purpose now is to make school “fun.”
