Why wait until children are older to confirm them–how about so they what it means? I’m pretty sure having been the parent of 3 third graders that they would have had no clue what was going on.

Early confirmation, along with infant baptism, come from a time went infant and child mortality ran over 50%. Get them washed clean and into the Church before the grim reaper took them. This is where the whole myth of Limbo was invented (it was never a doctrine of the Catholic Church). That the practices continue today simply underscores how religious doctrine can rarely be changed.

The church had been moving the age up towards the age of consent, but it seems they are going back to historical practices. Kids don’t die in the numbers they used to so I don’t understand this reversal except the need to rope the flock in early. Too many people straying I guess.

How many priests (beside the guy they are extraditing back from Africa) molested kids under this fellows watch? Every aspect of organized religion is disgusting.

What is disgusting is how every time a Catholic topic comes up some bigot trots out the scandals, even if they have NOTHING to do with the topic.
