This is good news. I like Shopko and was hoping one would open in the vicinity. Whenever I’m in Wisconsin or southern Minnesota I would always stop at Shopko first.

From what I understand, Shopko and Pamida had the same owners and decided to merge the two.
Pamida/Shopko have to compete against WalMart, KMart, Target and other compeititors. They have to stay on their toes to compete.
Everything I have heard about Shopko is positive.

There are Shopko stores in almost all midwestern states but there are none in North Dakota. Last December in Rochester I was at a Shopko and bought an Android tablet for a good price. The store manager was nearby and I told him of how I wished there was a Shopko store in Grand Forks or Fargo.
I was hoping one would have opened in the old Target store but there would have been too much competition from the nearby Wal*Mart and Target on 32nd.
Opening a Shopko in EGF where there isn’t a nearby big box store should give it an advantage. Remember when Wal*Mart opened their store in Thief River right next to Pamida? Pamida didn’t last long after that.
Will they expand the old EGF Pamida building? Most Shopko stores I’ve been to are huge. They’re always well stocked, clean and are service oriented. I’ve been to Shopkos in Rochester, Winona, Sioux Falls, Marshfield, WI, and Madison and was always impressed with the stores.
