Maybe John Thune should focus on why these cuts are happening in the first place. And that would be because his obstructionist Republican party refused to compromise with any tax increases on the rich or corporations. He also would rather make cuts to programs many South Dakotans rely on, like MediCare. He just voted yes for two budget resolutions that would make massive cuts to social service programs while giving more tax breaks to the rich. Each of those budget resolutions would also raise the retirement age, one to age 68 and one to age 70. Does anyone still want to be slaving away working at that age? We already have the strongest and biggest military on the planet. We need to stop wasting those resources, not to mention the American lives, fighting wars we have no business fighting. It’s time for the rich to pay their share and the for the GOP to stop pandering to their whims.
