The writer is absolutely 100% correct. Politicians of all stripes, but in this particular case the Republicans, hope that the electorate will have selective or collective memory loss and vote them all back into office. The populace needs to wake up and see what a bunch of “do-nothings” we currently have in the MN legislature. Vote ‘em out, and let’s start fresh with new ideas from people who believe in public service rather than self-service.

The writer was NOT 100% correct. The blame for the shutdown cannot be solely placed on one party. Remember, the budget that Dayton vetoed to cause the shutdown would have INCREASED state spending by 6% and would have been the largest General Fund budget ever! The state, under Dayton and democratic legislatures has seen dramatic increases in spending that cannot be sustained; cuts HAVE to be made. I believe both sides acted somewhat irresponsible, but the fact remains, we are already financially in trouble, it doesn’t make sense to increase spending exponentially, as Dayton wants. You are correct, people DO need to wake up! They need to realize we are going broke. Our state is one of the highest taxed states in the union, and changes must be made to ensure the future of our children. Kind of hard to take the article serious when it is signed, league of “RURAL” voters, MINNEAPOLIS, Mn.?????? The metro is so out of touch with the rural areas it’s almost laughable. Ms. Moothart is a far left lib! Who else did anyone expect her to blame but the Repubs????
