Staff, community, region connections are targeted for improvement
WORTHINGTON It’s been less than two months since Nobles County released former administrator Mel Ruppert from his job, and work continues to progress as county commissioners work to rebuild relationships with department heads, elected officials and staff. Continue Reading

Does it make any sense to keep paying Mel Ruppert for a year (approx $115k) while paying the interim county administrator about $9k / month through December? What an outrage. It’s clear from the tone of the article they were dissatisfied with Mel’s performance, since they’re spending so much time “rebuilding relationships”. He should have been sacked and shown the door, once and for all. The commissioners continue to demonstrate amazing lack of insight / planning. And who pays for all this? Yep, we the taxpayers.

Yep, rebuilding trust! I wonder how much trust was rebuilt when, (from what I heard) one unit went in to negotiate their union contract and Ol’ Mel was in the room for negotiations? How bout that, if true, having a “retired” person negotiating contracts for the county? Yep, that’ll build up the trust pretty quick.

Building trust let’s see the commissioner hired a interim administrator for $8,552.56 which calculates to $53.45 an hour. If you were to calculate it for a year it would be $111,183.28. All new county employees start at the bottom so therefore you are telling me that county administrator starts out about $4,000.00 less than what Rupert was making when he so called retired, I highly doubt it. Next is Sue Luing going to have to give up her $900.00 a month extra pay for her so called extra duties or will they do for her as Rupert and let her keep when they hire? I know some county employees that have to carry out extra duties and all they get is a contract for 0% cost of living for 2012. Building trust? NO it sounds like business as usual with the commissioners. Lets build trust, commissioner quit while your behind. I think the next time there is board meeting I will bring the manure spreader.
