Enbridge plans 100 new jobs in Duluth’s Old Downtown
May 20, 2012 at 7:00 pm in Duluth News Tribune
With a pressing need for more space, Enbridge Energy is expanding to downtown Duluth, probably bringing more than 100 good-paying, professional jobs with it.

Why does it have to be called “old downtown”? Because Canal Park segregates the tourists from the locals?

Enbridge says Superior couldn’t accommodate all their employees and there goes that Duluth Chamber guy exaggerating with “other communities and states were in play,” Can’t he ever just state the facts, never can believe his hype. That condo excuse is weak, they were down sliding way before 2010. But it is good news to see some of those empty buildings start filling up. Theres at least 3 at the Lake and Superior intersection.

“they are not discounters” those were overpriced from the start. If they need to expand more maybe the Casino building would be a good choice. At least this is productive business coming to duluth and not a choo-choo train, fish tank or gambling pit that all have negative impact on tax payers and social welfare systems.

“At least this is… not a choo-choo train, fish tank or gambling pit…”
Is there anything that you conservatists actually like? With 100 new professional level jobs in the dirty energy industry, you guys should be lauding this move! But you seem resigned to it at best. It’s like you’ll ‘settle’ for a huge private investment, but anything beyond that must be demonized and shut down. That just shows how uncompromising the right-wing has become.

The news of these leases for DT is good for the landlord, good for the tenants and very good for the City of Duluth…you know if Rob Link does the tenant finish it will be done well and these folks are likely to stay for a long, long time. Retail would be nice, but 100 new employees seeking shopping and lunches is great. Congratulations.

Of course there are the old, lame Duluthians who can find anything to complain about on this site. Beware you people…Duluth is changing in a positive way. You can’t keep complaining forever…

Welcome back Enbridge. Duluth used to be HQ to Enbridge, formerly Lakehead Pipeline. What would it take to get those corporate HQ jobs back from Houston?

Duluth has a long history of accommodating those folks who have nothing better to do than whine about this great city. Thank you Enbridge for selecting Duluth, we welcome you. All the negative posters on this site likely don’t even live here. Welcome to Duluth Enbridge, your employees will love it here!

I would prefer to see the term “Historic Downtown District” than “Old Downtown”.
