Another chance? Please, just let them go until they can commit to the strict environmental controls necessary to conduct this type of mining. Also, they should be required to create and continue to contribute to a cleanup fund that would assure appropriate management and mitigation of environmental issues after any mining began, as well as after the company shut down the mining activity.
These minerals aren’t going away. They will always be there for any company willing to make the environmental protection committments. As for the 700 jobs, give us all a break. They will not be worth the potential environmental and health impacts to the area without proper pollution regulation and management.
