Schafer, Omdahl, and The Chamber of Criminals are all against M2.
Three very good reasons to vote in favor of it.

It is interesting to see who stands where on the measure. Those who prosper from the property tax are against it. Those who suffer from it, oppose it. The big problem as i see it is the consequence if it loses: local governments will conclude that taxpayers want it, and will spiral up mil levies and valuations until no one can keep his house.

If it fails I don’t believe its over.. If it does fail I see every auditors office in this state going out and upping valuations on property so they can stockpile some money for ‘Just in Case’…
I think we have just hit the tip of the iceberg on this issue.

I read somewhere that the amount not collected due to abatements in just a few cities is enormous. This is made up for by everyone else.

Because political entities have been unwilling to take meaningful action to reduce the tax burden home owners are faced with, we end up with an all or nothing choice regarding the amount of property taxes we will pay. Every candidate looking for a vote promises to reduce taxes but no real action is ever taken. I don’t often have the chance to change the system and how it works, but in June I can do something about it.
