US forecastors say heat will continue through summer, increased risk of wildfires
May 17, 2012 at 10:52 am in Grand Forks Herald
And the heat goes on. Forecasters predict toasty temperatures will stretch through the summer in the U.S. And that’s a bad sign for wildfires in the West. Continue Reading

All that forest fire CO2 accelerates global warming. Of course this allows the deniers to say “see GW is the result of natural causes”.

What? So if we put out the fires is that fighting global warming? I am happy to fund fire fighters fighting global warming.

There is already a plan to build a trillion$ retaining wall in Quebec & Ont. to divert water from going into Hudson Bay and sending it to the SW US.

There are huge impediments to the above actually happening, cost being only one of them. Even considering changing the salinity of Hudson Bay is an issue.

By the same logic why not divert Devils Lake water through the McClusky Canal for fracking & save the RR from flooding through the Sheyenne R. into Fargo.

From the Arizona Daily Star
The last time the globe had a month that averaged below the 20th century normal was February 1985. April makes it 326 months in a row. Nearly half the population of the world has never seen a month that was cooler than normal, according to United Nations data.
“A warmer world is the new normal,” Oppenheimer said. “To me, it’s startling to think that a generation has grown up with global warming defining their world.”

Last season was a fluke because the jet stream stayed way north so AK got all that dumping we would have received….I don’t think the future of real winters up north have anything to fear…I’m confident we’ll see plenty of real winter….and then some….

Good…real good…I was worried that I wasted money on my last one. I have to quit buying the things. They depreciate so rapidly it’s almost a total waste of money. Gas is high and the best places to ride are a three hour drive away. But it’s so fun!!

No bac, it will likely be a warmer than normal winter since the last 326 mths. have all been warmer than normal worldwide. If the jet stream shifts enough we may have a really cold winter like 2 yrs. ago. Interesting though that Siberia just had a very warm winter.

No Shurkey, it says “warmer than normal” which is different than “heat will continue” isn’t it.

Yes the sky is falling. If there is only 35,000 ft. of atmosphere(Troposhere) in which to store CO2 then what we thought was an unlimited amount of sky has become extremely smaller as in “fallen sky”.

One thing I’ve seen personally from all this heat…There’s a lot of dry ground, low rivers and lakes in many parts of the country. Regardless of how you decide to look at it….There’s some big problems happening out there, and it’s probably going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better. It’s not too outragous to consider that we’re not too far away from the days where water might be a scarce commodity that we’ll be paying a premium for…..Those with too much will make a killing off those with too little

That is nothing new….I know a year ago there was a lot of high lakes and rivers and flooding in the country. From the Northeast to Minot, Bismarck. The Red was out of the banks into August…

There was a large meeting of Mn. cities this week where planners made it clear that the warmer atmosphere creates larger thunderstorms & there is an urgent need for designing larger storm sewer systems and holding ponds. Of course those planners are part of the conspiracy the “deniers” say is being perpetrated by the government.

Actually I didn’t make a very accurate point I guess. Where I’ve seen this is from around the middle of the country (Ok, KS ) and south (Especially TX, GA) to name a few. So far up north we’re doing fine and as you point out we often have an abundance of water. But I’ve lived through droughts up here too so I have little doubt that we’ll see them again.
What shocks me about down south is that this has been an on going situation for a few years now and in some areas you really see the toll it’s taken on the land. I’ve been trucking over 20 years. There’s always been sections of the country with either drought or wet conditions, but usually that would last a season and then you’d see things get back to normal the next season…..Now you see places having several seasons. In areas where the water raises yhou can do like Devils lake and move away from the water, but with on going droughts you eventually have to abandon the area or pay the expense of shipping enough water for daily use.
These are real situations that aren’t the frabrication of some scientiest with a hidden agenda to bring down big business….What the hell…Things will always find a way to fix themselves right?
