ST. PAUL — Minnesota Republicans gather in St. Cloud this morning, with the official main event picking a candidate to face Democratic U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar. Continue Reading

There is tension within the Republican Party, but it is mostly pushed from the top down. My experience in Rice County has been wonderful, for the most part our differences have been expressed through healthy debates after our BPOU meetings. From wherever you stand it be should be clear that, in Minnesota, the grass roots activists within the Republican Party are open to Congressmen Paul’s message. No one should think that is a bad thing. He did quite well in the initial straw poll (getting second to Rick Santorum) and those who voted for him are many of the ones that have stayed active within the party. The grassroots in our area are united on fiscal sobriety and open to limited / local government solutions.
As far as the US Senate race; Kurt Bill’s made quite the impression at our CD1 convention in Mankato and I for one feel he has the right message and has built the right coalitions (along with grass roots fuel) to beat Senator Klobuchar. We are excited for the race.
Before this election President Reagan was the only thing holding me to the Republican party. Ron Paul has brought me back to the party and the good people within the GOP grassroots are what keeps me going.
See you at the convention tomorrow.
