JSDC looks at iron smelting

The empty westbound coal trains passing through Jamestown may someday bring iron ore to Stutsman County.
The Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. decided to fund a share of a feasibility study for a plant to smelt the ore into pellets during its regular meeting Monday. The plant would be co-located with Great River Energy’s Spiritwood Station coal-fired generating plant at Spiritwood.

When was oil a pipe dream? I would say as far back as 4 years ago when the bust towns from yesteryear had higher populations of tumble weeds than people. If it weren’t for the huge pushes for domestic oil and the high speculation prices on oil, North Dakota would still be where it was before the current boom.

I’m thinking of starting a company that makes muffler bearings and blinker fluid. I wonder if I can get a grant from the JSDC? They seem willing to waste money on anything!
