I believe that it’s illegal for a private landowner to drill a well within the city limits. Usually, when land is annexed to the city, those landowners are required to close their wells and connect to city water when it becomes available.
This is a relatively shallow well, like those used for monitoring groundwater pollution. Is there a known pollution source nearby that is being monitored?

Seriously people? THIS is what you are complaining about? KUDOS to Mr. Knoke and Willow River Elementary for providing such an awesome learning experience for students in Hudson. Maybe with this amazing learning experience some of these kids will go on to careers in the environmental field and drill the wells in 3rd world countries:) Fantastic job Mr. Knoke!

Tara, I made the same point that perhaps one of these kids will grow up to invest their effort in drilling wells where people are actually dying because they don’t have any clean water available. It just struck me as a huge waste of resources. Are there no other wells in the area that could have been used for study? I agree with carbon bigfoot—I don’t think as a city resident that you can just drill a well in your back yard. Wonder if they checked with the city….oh that’s right, they are the school district! They can do whatever they want.
