The Lake Mallalieu Access is more noticeable to passersby these days. The dead trees and invasive brush that partially blocked the view of the access and the lake from Second Street have been removed. Continue Reading

How do you figure brett4? Should the city let all its property become over ridden with buckthorn and brush? Looks pretty nice I think!

Total waste of money. There was nothing wrong with the way it was. The plants and trees blocked the view of the parking lot from boats. Now from their boats they see a parking lot full of cars and trailers. Ugly. They worked on it for a month costing a fortune. For nothing. It’s almost like government is searching for ways to waste our money. They should charge to launch boats so taxpayers don’t have to pay for it.

Well, I’m not an expert, but that dock wouldn’t last another 2 years pulling it up over that bank every fall. While they had it out, I just happened to peek at it, a couple of the welds were cracked. That part was kind of important. I’m sure pulling it through brush and up a 2′ ledge is just what the owners manual says for extended care of the dock.
I’m sure people out fishing are really concerned with being able to see their vehicles. My guess is you live across from there on the lake and do not like seeing the parking lot of trucks and boat trailers.

How much did it cost to cut the trees and brush and landscape it? I drove by it everyday and they were working on it for a month. Hudson has other priorities and those that use the launch should pay for the improvements. They pay in lakefront, they should pay on the lake. Spending taxpayer money for that project was a total waste of money. What was the taxpayer bill to remove some buckthorn?
