May 8 primary will select candidates for governor’s race

Five candidates will be on the primary ballot next week to choose a Democrat to face Gov. Scott Walker in the June recall election. Two names are on the Republican ballot. Facing off in the May 8 primary are Democrats Tom Barrett, Milwaukee; Kathleen Falk, Madison; Doug La Follette, Madison; and Kathleen Vinehout, Alma; and “fake Democrat” Gladys Huber, Mequon.

Can’t decide if I’ll vote for Gladys Huber or Falk. I wonder if enough cross overs will vote get Falk on the ballet. Be sure to vote Weix for LG.

There won’t be many cross over votes.
With the “independent” running against Walker, and voters only being able to vote for one Governor candidate, those crossover votes that may have been cast for Falk will now go to Walker.
Democrats got lucky as Falk had no chance of beating Walker.

I heard part of the Dem candidate debate tonight. When asked (paraphrased), “Considering Gov. Walker promised 250,000 new jobs in 4 years, what would you promise that you could be held to in 2014?’
My favoites:
Barrett: Not to travel out of state for speaking engagements and campaign contributions. I guess that means he won’t visit his buddy Rahm in Chicago. And I guess he wouldn’t be breaking a promise if union money is sent from out of state to the governor’s mansion.
Falk: she wants to be Wisconsin’s mom…seriously, that’s what she said….I don’t know if I should giggle or barf.
Vinehout: she promises to be the governor of details…ya know, like using cheaper (?) state employees to answer phones instead of having that job contracted to private companies. She gave the impression there are millions of dollars available in the details and somehow that “found” money will be used to avoid tax increases. (Was Vinehout battling laryngitis, or does she naturally sound loud and angry?)
Doug; comes across as a remarkably honest, non-partisian grandpa…until “Mr. Progressive” declared himself an “independent”. Really? So far left he has to portray himself as a centrist to be taken seriously. Time to retire Doug, and figure out how to cement yourself in WI history.
I couldn’t stand to listen to much of the debate. Few details, lots of Walker-hating rhetoric.
