GOOD.
This needs to happen.
It’s the appropriate charge, 1st degree murder.

Hey, sweetheart – before you open your big yap, shouldn’t you know for certain if I have a personal interest in this case?? Shouldn’t you be clear about whether or not I am involved with anybody linked to this case??
Because I am.
I happen to know the victim, her son, her son’s father, and his family – I happen to know them quite well. This case is VERY close to my heart.
Instead of thinking you’re cool, coming in here and making a snide thoughtless remark, you should be educated before our fingers start typing. You crossed a line, Elton darling.
APOLOGIZE.
Hot debate. What do you think?

Yep, Elton, I’ve “got it”.
As long as you understand that you’ve taken what was simply some impersonal verbal sparring on other articles straight to a decidely personal level here, on this article… for no good reason other than for the sake of being a world class jerk.
Your comment earlier was highly insensitive and inappropriate. Instead of chosing to man up and apologize for stepping into something inadvertanly, you have instead chosen to maintain the Arse Hat you so enjoy wearing.
Wear it proud – it suits you perfectly.

Tell us all, ‘elton’, just why is it that you continue to defend the indefensible? On more than one thread, you have defended murderers, some who have already had their day in court.
Have you even bothered to learn the stories, or are you just shooting off your mouth to get some kind of attention?

In this case, the teen was stabbed mulitiple times, outside her workplace. By a co-worker.
Tell us all, ‘elton’, just what is your justification for defending this guy? He your son? Brother? Best friend?
Or, you?
Or, are you so filled with hate that you just don’t care? Just as long as you can post something the real world considers trash?

Elton – please pay attention -
Your attempts to spark a political debate here, on this article, are inappropriate.
Your persistence in rudeness and your obliviousness to the sensitive nature of this particular topic are inappropriate.
Your callousness in tossing out the snide remarks, knowing full well that is topic seriously does mean something to someone here, on this board, is inappropriate.
Your claims to such great depths of humanity, seeing the best in people, and defending people are hollow when held up to the substance of the garbage you’re leaving across this board so purposefully for no other reason than to be a petulant and defiant child.
At some point, Elton, insisting upon stomping your foot, stick out your tongue, and offering up the old “I know you are, but what am I?” becomes tiring, unacceptable, and worthy of sending you to your room like the child you are behaving as.
At first I thought you were merely annoying – like a gnat you swat at, but are never quite able to shoo away. I now, however, am certain of what a sad, unhappy, and bitter person you obviously are.
I was pretty ticked at you for a while – even saddened by your insensitivity (even after I opted to expose my soft underbelly and tell you that this topic is one that personally, and deeply, effects me) – I will admit to that.
But now – well, now I simply pity you.
You poor, poor man…

This story is also very close to me. The facts of the case are simply not in dispute. This kid did a horrible thing … I feel for the families of both of them, but at least one still gets to see their son. The other gets to visit a cemetery. I also know this family, the young girl’s fiance worked for me, I know the little boy … I know Vanessa’s brother, this isn’t a political issue and it shouldn’t be. I think the grand jury needs to be convened … let the courts do their job. Justice will be served, the family should have the opportunity to have 1st degree murder charges filed. I’m sure our county attorney (and yes I know him as well, oh hell I know the defense attorney too) is doing what needs to be done. As I said, the facts are just that, facts. There is no political discourse involved in this!

Emotions in a tragedy like this are bound to run high, thus the comments … the death penalty is a useful tool in some applications. However, there simply is not enough due process for many underprivileged individuals. That said, it simply isn’t a deterrent to anyone, and my understanding is it costs more to put them to death (not sure why) then to incarcerate them. That is our justice system … and like it or not, I don’t think there is a better one in the world. However, sometimes we get it wrong and I only wish the prosecutors would man/woman up when that happens. If DNA is an option it should be tested … without question. No matter though, this young man will get his due process no matter what the discourse is, and the family will get a little justice. Simply put, all around, it is a horrible horrible thing that I wish never happened, but alas the news says differently on an hourly basis.

Minnesota does not have the death penalty as an option.
South Dakota, however does.
Anyone who commits murder has already ‘walked on’ the victims rights just about as hard as is possible.
Making rude comments to friends of the victims is NOT ‘defending the kid’s rights’.
