Dayton vetoes fireworks expansion; Kriesel calls governor’s explanation ‘laughable’
April 28, 2012 at 6:15 pm in South Washington County Bulletin
Gov. Mark Dayton vetoed a bill by Rep. John Kriesel that would have legalized aerial fireworks in Minnesota, and the Cottage Grove lawmaker called the governor’s explanation for rejecting it “laughable.” Continue Reading

Kriesel said, “Minnesotans will continue the tradition of buying Class-C fireworks in Wisconsin and using them here. Life will go on.” What’s the point of having laws if our representatives don’t even plan on abiding by them?
I might have backed this bill if people would use them responsibly at holidays and not the rest of the summer at all hours of the evenings.

It was quite obvious from the beginning that Rep. Kriesel had a personal agenda for this bill. If it was for the revenue as he tried to make it seem, just make the police actually enforce the existing laws and tag and fine the lawbreakers.

I am already sick and tired of listening to the boomers and shriekers that are being put off in my neighborhood. But since it is legal, it is their right to set them off. I would just like some peace and quiet is all.

I’m guessing there are laws about when people need to be quiet, so we could probably call the police when the noise gets too annoying.

Oh Annie definitely not worth making enemies of the neighborhood by doing that. Besides, I think our fine police officers in Cottage Grove have more important work to be doing. I just need to stock up on tranquilizers for my dogs.

The next big question is, have they balanced the budget yet, or been wasting time on this nonsense.

funny how the governor has time to make a trivial decision, but our house, senate and governor won’t do anything about a stadium! They’d rather adjourn early without finishing anything! What a crock!
