I am also glad that the woman from Rothsay was not more severely injured.. I am also glad that we were not injured as the story provided to the television and newspaper has not been entirely accurate.
All of these incidents took place in the area of about 1 mile. Starting in Rothsay and ending at the County Hwy 24 overpass on I-94.
My girlfriend and I were driving down I-94 east bound in the fast lane when we approached the Hwy 24 overpass to witness someone walking across the bridge. As we approached, he quickly jumped over the guard rail, took 3 steps to his right and jumped off, he was deliberately trying to jump in front of our car!! I do not know how I managed to keep the car on the road, I also do not know how I managed to avoid hitting him. I was there as the semi driver and another vechicle stopped to subdue him and hold him until the authorities arrived.
I certainly hope that he gets the help that he needs.. I also hope that he understands that not only could he have easily ended his own life but he could have also ended ours and I really have mixed feelings about that right now.. luckily I’m looking at this as what “did” happen and not what “could” have happened.
