They are preparing by getting their excuses ready.
Officials said wildfires are becoming more complex as more people live and recreate in areas near forests or open grasslands.
What nonsense. If anything there are fewer people and more wilderness areas.

Very poor form, even as these message boards go.
This over-abundance of wild and natural areas do mean something to quite a few people.
Fire is quite a dynamic thing. Managing a fire in any context can be incredibly difficult given the multitude of variables.
Firefighters, structural and wildland, are dedicated to protecting you, your property and our resources. Dollar signs and acres burned do not tell the whole story. At Pagami no homes or lives were lost; the aesthetics we’ve grown accustomed to were changed, and that does happen.
Also, before you rag on wildland firefighters, think about all of them that lost their lives; many protecting homes, neighborhoods and towns. Does the opinion about fighting paper bags only apply to large events when no lives/homes are lost? Or, does it stay consistent when we loose much more?
