With GOP nomination all but in hand, Mitt Romney turns toward money and party reconciliation
April 25, 2012 at 5:32 am in West Central Tribune
The Republican presidential nomination all but in hand, Mitt Romney is refocusing his efforts on challenging President Barack Obama, raising cash for the battle ahead and reconciling with one-time primary rival Rick Santorum.

Did that ‘carl’, and I’m sure not weeping.
Rather, I’m laughing my butt off at Romney’s lame attempt to copy Obama’s style.
And, you might want to contribute a few bucks to the MN version of the GOP.

Wonder if Willard will choose Rubio or Jed or Rob Portman? He sure won’t make McCain mistake and take someone utterly unqualified. McCain would be President right now if he had chosen better VP and kept his Maverickness rather than try to be someone he’s not. Wait a minute, that is exactly what Willard is doing… He has flip flopped positions more than John Kerry used to…. Saw a pretty funny video of Rudy Guliani talking about Romney changing positions more than anyone he has ever seen…

Its a 50/50 chance that either Obama or Romney will win. More people like Obama according to the polls, as he is the candidate one would rather have a beer with. Romney does have financial experience, tearing apart businesses, firing a lot of people and making millions. Trouble is you just don’t know who Willard really is. Will he govern like he did in Mass. as a moderate? Or will he stay to the far right as he has had to do to win the GOP primary. Many who have endorsed him have really done so half-heartedly and are lukewarm. He seems like a typical politician, will say whatever he thinnks people want to hear. Must be exhausting trying to keep track of what you believe in. He sure isn’t a guy you would want to sit down and have a beer with, I mean a cup of coffee, or tea, or whatever it is he is allowed to drink.

Good points, archie.
Like you said, more people like Obama because he’s more like the rest of us. Granted, he might not have all that much experience with some of the business things Romney does, but I’d rather have an honest man in my corner anyday.
Romney, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to me to be at all in the best interests of ‘the rest of us’. He seems to be just pandering to whatever group is the most likely to get him elected. Just like any of the republicans in the last three elections.
I’ll vote for who I consider to be an honest man any day over someone who I think is just another crook.

I like your comments bobk. Very informative and filled with indisputable documented facts that are easily found by anyone question the accuracy. I just wish the other so called “facts” posted here by others were so well documented and verifiable.
Well, back to being a conservative jerk and abusing the liberal trolls who make foolish comments….

bobk, do u mean like gov. romney did when he was gov. of mass. and was pro abortion, pro gun control, pro gay and lesbian rights, and increased spending in mass. by more than any other governor before him? That kind of problem solving?

archieb, you must be reading from your daily talking points memo.
President Romney will do a much better job than the current occupant. From what I have read, Governor Romney, while not aqccomplishing a stellar performance, did increase jobs relative to population growth, did accomplish revenue increases coupled with spending cuts to erase a $1.5 billion deficit. Not like the current growing deficit increases and steep debt increases.

I know you both are smart enough from the way you post on here to not miss the point unless you simply want to miss the point, but I will say it anyhow – You are missing the point! Gov. Romney governed much like a Democrat or a moderate or a progressive would. He was pro-choice, he was pro-gay and lesbian rights, he was pro gun control, and on and on and on – much of what you would expect from a Mass. politician – how do you reconcile that with how far to the right he now wants us all to think he is? The answer is you can’t. He did what he had to do in order to get elected in Mass. Now he is doing what he has to do to get the GOP nomination. The 64,000 question is how would he govern if elected President? No one knows. Many say he will be moderate like he has been in the past. That would be fine with me. Trouble is, it would sure upset and disappoint most conservatives – like I bet it would both elton and bobk. Will the real Willard Romney please stand up, please stand up!

archieb, you help elect a person who made lots of promises with no experience except a lot of votes marked “present” and we see what has happened.
So, many people from the far right, the middle, the moderates, and the independents have seen enough of unkept promises and the picking of winners and losers, deciding we do need a change. So your suggestion of class warfare and division of the people have lost their luster to be replaced with a brighter day in November and a whale of a better USA beginning in January, 2013.

I know this is difficult for you to understand but please try this time, I will not repeat it again.
Gov. Romney did what he said he would do when he ran for Gov. of Mass.
Why do you doubt he would do what he is promises now when he is elected President in November?
The state of Mass is much different then the entire country and the needs of the two do not match up in anyway. Mitt did his job as Gov of Mass and next he will do his job as President. Just as he has promised.
It is a simple concept, keeping your word to the voters. Something the left has a very difficult time with.

So am I to understand that you will be perfectly happy should Romney be elected and he governs like he did in Mass.? You would be okay if he governed from the center, as a moderate? Much like Pres. Obama? That fascinates me. If Romney would govern like he did when he was governor of Mass. and signed Romneycare into law, a lot of us who are moderates and independents would be thrilled. There really would be very little difference from Pres. Obama. In the end, no matter who gets elected, it doesn’t really change a whole lot. There will still be gridlock, patisan politics and the same old crap. At least with Obama we know what we are getting. With Romney who knows? No one has ever made such a transformation in U.S. politics.

archieb, are you making an observation, voicing a personal opinion or a joke when you say President Obama governs as a moderate? Look at the people who surround him and/or advise him or have been appoined czars in his administration.
Look at the leanings of Reverend Wright, Elizabeth Warren, John Holdren, Mark Lloyd, Cass Sunstein, Carol Browner, and Ron Bloom come from very left leaning backgrounds, if not far left leanings. His closest advisor, Valerie Jarret, has a far left leaning background and experience. In fact, until he was found out to be an avowed communist, Van Jones was one of President Obama’s most trusted advisors. So you can’t convince me Presdeint Obama is a moderate when I see who surrounds him and who are considered his trusted confidantes and advisors.
One characteristic of an individual who does not govern from the center, upon taking office, tells you immediately “I won”.

elton, i like your logic. have no core values. have no principles. have nothing for which you can say “here i stand, i can do no other!” do whatever is politically expedient. if you happen to be the governor of a liberal northeastern state, then be pro choice, pro gun control, pro gay and lesbian, pro union etc. etc. etc. just do what the people whom you govern want you to do. if you happen to run for office in a conservative state, then be a conservative. if you happen to run for office in a liberal state, then be a liberal. don’t decide for yourself what you believe in and what you value. simply let the people decide. i like it! no responsibility. no accountability. whichever way the wind blows… that’s willard romney.

So archieb you really don’t like politicians that do what they promised when elected? Politicians that truely represent the people that elected him to office? That is willing to do what is needed at time for the betterment of the country?
You certainly do represent the values of the democrat party – say whatever is needed to get elected then screw the public after you are elected.
You and bac must be brothers man. Why do both of you hate this country so much that you are willing to lie just to get a lying democrat bass turd elected?

Thank God for Seal Team 6 and everyone else in the military who are the true heros.
It is a shame that Obama is using this for political gain. He did something that any President would do, yes even Carter, given the situation. He is not deserving of the glory, however the soldiers are.

Mission Accomplished! right elton? The one year anniversary of the death of Bin Laden! Anyone who says this issue is being politicized is on the losing side of the issue. Obama made the call! Obama made the decision! He alone! If it had failed, he would be paying the consequences. It didn’t fail. It worked. Obama had the COURAGE to make the call! If the operation had failed you would be the first to be blasting Obama for what he did, elton. Republicans have been politicizing foreign policy and the perceived weakness of Democrats on foreign policy for decades. When someone can’t give Obama credit for getting Bin Laden, it is simply proof that they just hate Obama and have no respect for the office of the President.

archieb, when the Huffington post calls the political ad “despicable” and criticizes the politica lad questioning whether Romney would have made the decision, your post sort of puts you out in the wilderness. Better look around to see if anyone is with you on that one.
You sort of remind me of the story of the ditch digger and the boss. The ditch digger does all the hard work and the boss, upon completion, steps up, taking credit for by saying “this job is done”.

While I must admit I do love Jon Stewart, I get most of my information from other sources. In fact, I just listened to Michael Steele who totally agreed with Stewart’s position on Obama getting Bin Laden. Also interesting how a Romney aide forced to quit because he is gay. The GLBT are not welcome in the GOP.

Be sure to tune in tonight and watch Brian Williams’ show Rock Central, as he goes inside the Situation Room at the White House and interviews Pres. Obama on the one year anniversary of the killing of Bin Laden. Interesting how one of the first calls Pres. Obama made was to former Pres. Bush. Obama rightly gives Bush some credit for getting Bin Laden and says he continued what Bush had started. That is class.
