Cascade work, dig it

A perforated storm sewer pipe was installed Wednesday morning, April 25, west of Spruce Street on East Cascade Avenue. The perforated pipe allows storm water runoff to infiltrate into the underlying soils, filtering and cooling the runoff while recharging the groundwater flows that sustain the Kinnickinnic River. Work to rebuild and redesign East Cascade and upgrade utilities has entered a third week. The project should be mostly done by early November. Continue Reading

The perforated pipe also allows tree roots to get INTO the sewer pipe, eventually clogging it.

I know a guy who installs drain tile, says trees have to be cleared for 30′ in all directions to keep tree roots from plugging the tile, and he puts drain tile down 3-4 feet. Are there many trees that close to where they are installing the tile?
If so, this becomes another example of government ineptitude…
