Minn. Republican Party gets eviction notice at St. Paul headquarters

ST. PAUL, Minn. Minnesota’s debt-plagued Republican Party has been served with an eviction notice for its party headquarters after failing to pay its rent payments since August.

“Party of fiscal responsibility” ???
Someone with a 6th grade education should explain to the MN-GOP that there’s “good debt” and “bad debt” and the debt you don’t want is to a landlord!
Let’s say I’m a farmer. It’s fine if I have accumulated debt at the bank, as long as the cash flow is keeping it from dwarfing my farm’s equity. It’s wrong, though, to stiff a landowner that you rent land from, or stiff the local Coop for seed/fertilizer. Sounds a lot like what the MN-GOP is doing. (Like when they demanded that counties incur expenses for recounts but then have NO desire or will to pay off what they owe the counties.)
It seems the MN-GOP wouldn’t know what fiscal responsibility is if their lives depended on it.

Well, I’ve got a single car garage with a dirt floor that they can have for only $8000 a month! Maybe that would ‘suit their needs’ better? It’s even got a light and a few outlets!
Seriously, how can these people even think about claiming to be fiscally conservative? They owe just about everyone they’ve ever come in contact with. Look at the debt Michelle Bachman has after her failed attempt.
Maybe this year, we might be spared the GOP/TP TV ads? I could but hope.

The other day I stated the the Republican party in MN is broke, and owe over 900 Thousand to vendors, and area businesses. I was told by Elton, and Carl that I was making up stories, and had no facts to support this? Then Bobk stated I failed to mention the Democrats. If I am not mistaken Mr Raines knew about both parties, but the Republicans owed 2M as of last week. I stated I was not making this up, but Elton insisted I provide some proof? No need now to have to show you any proof Elton, you are reading the proof first hand! Also the legislator made up of mostly Republicans want to pass a bill that would allow Politicians who have campaign debits to be able to file bankruptcy! Now what really bugs me is the so called fiscal responsible party who asked for tougher regulations on consumers filing bankruptcy, draft a bankruptcy law to write off their campaign debits is hypocritcal, and wrong. I am sure there will be Dems voting on this as well, but here is the juice, when you get elected to a public office they get free healthcare, free retirement and 60 days of sick and vacation. Some get to keep a 6 figure salary for life, so these perks are their reward. So now if they fail they can wipe out the debit, and leave businesses and vendors holding the bag. Is this what the Republicans call Capitalism? They have the nerve to call Obama a socialist? The bailout was over 700B, now this? Yea FISCAL RESPONSIBLITY!

You are right bac, Bachman rang up a huge campaign debit and as she was failing her own campaign managers were jumping ship which should have been a clue to stop her campaign. Pawlenty at least had the common sense to realize his campaign was going nowhere, so rather then investing good money into bad he quit, so why did Bachman continue ringing up a huge campaign deficit when she did no better then Pawlenty? Its has to be a pretty low moment for Bachman when family values Gingrich is beating her, and this hypocritcal worm trails big time in the polls!

21 months left on the lease? Well, gee, I’d say that it would be more than fair to the property holder that the MNGOP be held liable for that, and whatever is past due. Or, are they all that much above the law that a citizen would have to abide by?
What ever happened to the Republicans, anyway? Too many ‘treasurers’ in too many counties that had too many fingers in the till? How much debt does LQP county owe?

jimmy daniels, you keep posting about the 700Billion and every time you keep forgetting Geithner, Obama, Bush, and Paulson were all in agreement in spending the 700B. Geithner was especially interested in getting it done because Geithner was on the hook for 80B, he had used to prop up Lehman Bros while President of the NY Federal Reserve District, prior to being apponted Treasury Secretary. Lehman Bros want belly up after the NY Federal Reserve got their money back.
The first 350B was put out in Nov/Dec of 2008, with the balance to be used in the following year under the newly elected president which was Obama. President -elect Obama came to Bush in December and asked if Bush would have Congress release the second 350 billion early as Obama and group deemed the financial markets were in tougher shape than they all thought. Bush did that.
The 700B was not a Bush “blame” item but more a responsibility and accountability transaction of 4 people – Geithner, Paulson, Bush and Obama.

Elton and Carl are really disliked by readers because they failed to man up. Instead these two are looking to justify the failure of the GOP to pay their bills, and be fiscal responsible. Now I am sure their intentions were there, but the sponsors appeared to be turned off about the GOP Presidential lineup, and the off the wall and misleading comments they continue to make. This party really needs to work on damage control because there are those damaging the Republican parties reputation with Religion and women bashing that can really hurt the parties image!

Damage control, jimmy?
I think it’s a little late for that, at least as far as Minnesota goes. They’ve spent themselves into oblivion, and they’ve made a mockery of the ‘conservative’ idea. And they’ve turned off the ‘religious conservatives’ with their antics with this suit by an aide.
Nope, too late for damage control in Minnesota.
From what I’ve been seeing on various news sites, it’s not just Minnesota either. Looks like there’s a lot of people who have been feeling betrayed by the results of the ’10 election, and this fall we are more than likely to see a big turnover in all aspects of government.
Shoot, even Boener admits he’s worried because the ‘freshmen’ are uncontrollable.

Let me tell you the ways bac, they left us with 2 wars that are still being paid for. The healthcare deficit is also added to their delusional deficit number. Since the massive lay offs and housing failure of 2007, we are paying for that as well, and banks are being sued because of lending and forclosure practices. Then the President had to infuse money into the economy so some of the unemployed can get back to work. When millions were laid off in 2007 and 2008, where do you think the money for unemployment benefits comes from. Obama extended them under Republican blackmail. Now one more issue to consider, when Republicans voted on the Bush taxes for the wealthy there is a big loss of revenue which also contributes to the deficit. Yes the mess left by Bush cannot be cleared up in 4yrs, we all knew that! Of course the Conservatives are going to argue different, but the way they have run this country, how can they say they can do any better?

jimmy likes to deal in facts, so here goes.
January 3rd, 2007, the Dems took over the House and Senate. Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee. Result – economioc meltdown 15 months later were in what part of the economy – Banking and Financial Services.
Obama was a member of the Senate while this was going on.
January 3rd, 2007, The budget process originates in Congress – Right?. Who controlled Congress – Democrats controlled the Budget process for 2008,2009,2010, and for 2010. and so I guess that makes them responsible for initiating and getting Spending Budgets passed. As we all know, no budget was passed in 2009 as Peloosi and Reid kept passing continuing resolutions to continue ongoing spending. When President Obama took office in 2009, the Democrat controlled Congress passed an 2009 Omnibus Budget Bill to complete 2009 which President Obama upon inauguration signed(which means you legislate, you sign, you take responsibility).
So Jimmy, the only deficit Obama inherited was the 2007 deficit as he had a voice and vote as a member of the Senate, in establishing spending levels since 2008.
I think what the President whould be correct in stating- “I inherited a deficit which I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th, 2009.”
Might remind you jimmy, on January 7th, 2007, The DOW closed at 12,621.77. GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%, and the Unemploymne t rate was 4.6%
Also would like to remind you, Candidate for Senate, Obama said, ” if we are going to do anything, we must take over the House, the Senate , and the White House”.
By the way, the two wars were put on the debt which Bush increased $5 Trillion over his 8 years. President Obama has increased the Debt $5 Trillion in just over 3 and a half years so I don;’t think we can take another 4 years with an additional 5 Trillion of debt.
jimmy, those are the facts and just the facts.

mnborn78, there are currently some 30+ bills passed by the House sitting on the Senate Majority leader Reid’s desk, some with bipartisan support but most with job ideas, elimination of wasteful spending, etc.. Senator Reid has seen fit rather to name federal buildings, highways, etc., than to solve problems of the American peoiple.
MIght add, the House has brought President Obama’s proposed 2013 Budget to the floor for a vote and it went down with a vote of 0 to 414 – not one Democrat Vote. The Senate has not passed a Senate proposed budget bill in two years, 2011, 2012, and Senator Reid has stated , he will not bring forth a 2013 Budget proposal. Also, President Obama’s proposed 2011 Budget which he proposed to the Senate was voted down by a vote of 0 to 97 vote. Not one Democrat voted for it.
A great partisan wedge has been developing a long time and it seems the campaign rhetoric is causing a greater divide – seems like every other day a new slogan appears , race against race, group versus group. minortiy versus majority, one financila clas against another financial class, etc..
Posters have to start telling the truth rather than pointing fingers at the other guy. There are good points and bad points on both sides of the aisle but many can’t see that for the splinter( or should I say log) in their own eye.

mnborn78, Budget proposals usually come from the House and go to the Senate, who can amend it and send it back to the House for repassage and then is sent to the Presdient who has the power to sign or veto. But as you well know or do some research, the House has proposed budgets but no one wants to talk about the budget other than blast the rhetoric about loud and clear by showing ads of throwing grandma over over the cliff and so forth
As you know, The Senate has noit accepted any House passed budget for discussion on the floor or to make any amendments. The Senate, under the Democrats, made a rule of certain amount of votes were needed to pass a budget when they were in control by that number of votes. Well times change and now they suddenly find they are in the same situation, while in majority control in bodies , they no longer have the super majority control to p[ass their version of a budget.
I think they sometimes call that “karma”.

My point is the GOP has been complicit in the spending. They have also refused to look at the revenue side of things. Both are leading to a larger and larger national debt. The DFL certainly shares the blame, but to try to say our debt can be attributed to one party is far from true. And your argument loses its effectiveness when you state that Pelosi has been the House Majority Leader since 06…the DFL had full control for 2 years, 08 and 09.

mnborn78, might want to check your facts before you post.
“Nancy Patricia D’Alesandro Pelosi[1] ( /pəˈloÊŠsi/; born March 26, 1940) is the Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives and served as the 60th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011.”
The Dems took control of the House in the 2006 Elections with Perlosi coming into the Speaker position in mid January, 2007. The House was taken over by the Reps in the elections of 2010 but did not take control until the start of the 111th Congress which did not convene until the 2nd or 3rd week of January, 2011. That is why you see the 2011 date with regards to Speaker Pelosi’s terms.
Like or Dislike:

mnborn78, I forgot to post the reason for the dates of Speaker control. In the case of the 2010 Elections, Speaker Pelosi was Speaker in the 110th House, and has to convene the next House Session, which would have been the 111th in 2011, That is when the swearing in of new members, which may change the control of the House, which they must have speaker elections and the past Speaker has to turn over the gavel to the newly elected Speaker. If there is no change then usually the Speaker remains in the position. Sometimes there are challenges but usually cooler heads emerge.

Bob you are correct to say Pelosi was Speaker those dates. It doesn’t change the fact that there were only two years when she was Speaker that the DFL held the House, Senate, and Presidency…and even then the GOP tried to filibuster every bill because they were able to get Lieberman to join them even though he said he would caucus with the DFL. So, both parties have done their part to pass and block legislation. Both parties are responsible for the mess we are in.

Since you change subjects, let me correct you on the original post of Pelosi being speaker and the Control of the 110th and 111th Congress. Both the Senate and House were under control of the Dems since the two Senate “independents always caucused with the Dems ,making them the majority. In the Senate 111th Senate, the late seating of Franken and the appointment of Paul Kirk(replaced Ted Kennedy) and the changing of Spector from Rep to Dem did a lot of switching but the Dems still maintained a 51-47 majority and greatrer with the two Senate “independents” going with the majority. Of course, the 111th House had a 257 Dem vs 178 Rep majority with Pelosi Majority leader and Speaker.
Now if you will go back to my 11:31 post you will see how the fillibuster worked for the Dems when they were in the minority and even in the majority with their failure to propose budgets but to only pass continuing budget resolutions.
I will agree with one of your last items posts. they both do it and both are responsible as both have contributed to trying one upsmanship while shafting the American people. The biggest boon doggle that I have concern wiuth and most people should have also was the healthcare legislation which took too much time when the attention should have been placed on the economy and jobs. JMHO. My basic concern is we are not getting the economy fixed nor the necessary jobs to be able to afford the costs of the healthcare legislation as each month passes, the costs seem to be increasing, sometimes by leaps and bounds as we get to read the passed bill. Before I get “attacked”, I am not saying something should be not have been done but I don’t think the correct way would have bought votes.
By the way, here is the listing of the Congress control over the years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_divisions_of_United_States_Congresses

From there the subjects became the various levels and duties of government and their responsibilities ending with the subject of fillibustering which both parties do to extremes Final subject was both parties are responsible for the problems the American people have to endure which apparently we all agree. .
As to changing subject, your post of 4/23 4:06PM brought in Bachmann, Your post of 4/26 5:01PM, brought in Federal DEBT. So I guess we can agree we both would be questioned of changing subjects.
