The Keystone issue was purely political. Obama opposed granting the permit until environmental considerations were taken care of in Nebraska so, naturally, the GOP jumped on it as critical. Hoeven, as new guy in the senate was told to talk it up and he complied even though the pipeline was not scheduled to go through ND. None of our oil was intended to flow through this pipe nor would it affect gas prices. Hoeven knew this but since he was carrying water for the Senate leaders, he had to act like it was very important. Bunch of hypocritical baloney.

Wasn’t the Obama Administration following the law? Were not the Republicans trying to skirt the law?

We have a State Mill. We have a State Bank. Most every year, these well-run businesses generate a profit. Sometimes a CONSIDERABLE profit.
Maybe we should investigate the desirability of a State Refinery.
