“Business people and professionals don’t take the bus,” added William A. Draves, CEO of a national company with offices in River Falls. “We ride trains,” he said. “It’s hard to say ‘bus’ without laughing…”
Speaking of laughing…this is laughable and stunningly ignorant.
Go get on a bus from the burbs to either downtown then get on one that runs from St. Paul to downtown Minneapolis. You see plenty of business people and execs. I can’t believe I even had to point that out.
Try this: http://www.metrotransit.org/Schedules/WebSchedules.aspx?route=355 It’s an actual “bus.” Don’t worry, you be safe around plenty of execs and business people.

Agree. Hard to believe a CEO of a company could BE so ignorant, and insulting!

It would probably be much cheaper to buy 10,000 of the cheapest new cars available, hire some union mechanics to maintain them and charge the same fee that they would to ride the trains.
Ridership will never come close to covering the cost and we’ll all be stuck subsidizing this forever, just like Amtrack.

Another problem, as of now with trains coming this direction, is they are not actually planned to go into River Falls at all. How can the UWRF students use this service without using a bus or some other form of transportation from the “River Falls” station in Hudson to get to River Falls itself.
