Walker’s castle doctrine is common sense! So Alice, you are saying that everyone should have the peace of mind to enter anyone’s home at any time, and not have to worry about them defending their “castle”. That is the dumbest thing I have heard all day!

I only wish we had this sooner. I could have bagged me quite a few people by now!

The reason that it IS news now is to get the word out about this law. Perhaps the next person that finds himself intoxicated and lost will not be so willing to enter a strangers home if this story is fresh in their mind.

“Perhaps the next person that finds himself intoxicated and lost will not be so willing to enter a strangers home if this story is fresh in their mind”
The point is the person was intoxicated and lost. While they were in the wrong they didn’t PURPOSEFULLY enter a strangers house. Is this a crime punishable by death?!!!!! Must we really all be pawns to the gun lobby and their fear mongering?

you seem to think its ok for someone to enter your home and do what they like eh?
Next time it may not be a drunk…if could be a murderer or rapist scumbag…you gonna ask them to leave? lets see how that works for ya.
Hudson may be your little utopia- but viloent crime can happen ANYWHERE—I prefer to stay prepared.

Glad the homeowner took that approach as it saved this kids life. This is a tough deal if this had been an armed robber the home owner gave up his edge by telling him to get out.
Would he been better off telling the kid to hit the floor and call the cops? If he did not then shoot. What would they tell you in conceal and carry class?
Bad deal all the way around on this I’m just glad it worked out for everyone and we are not hearing about an armed intruder killing the homeowner.
We all did stupid things when we were young but I don’t ever remember walking into somebody elses house in a drunken stupor.
