Erickson’s comment about the 1969 Blessing from the Tribal leaders’ is indicative of the insensitivity and ignorance most of the opponents to the “Fighting Sioux” name walk in. Had any of the dominant culture people had any depth of appreciation for what occurred in 1969, none of this settlement business would have been necessary.
