Tea party rallies faithful to get involved with 2012 election
April 16, 2012 at 7:00 pm in West Central Tribune
WILLMAR Starting with an opening prayer that called President Obama the “liar in chief,” the fourth annual Kandiyohi County tea party rally Monday night in Willmar featured a lengthy line-up of fire-brand speakers that encouraged participants to get involved with the 2012 election to oust Obama and Minnesota Democrats.

What a joke, the teaparty members numbered 5 or so and were on the street near Walmart and you just had to laugh… Hey whatever spins their wheels. As far as a liar, I think many can agree who the liars are. I don’t see a real threat by Republicans to take the Whitehouse because of the way they went after women, and worked in the best interest of the rich! Some Conservative women seemed pretty offended by the parties comments towards women, they wanted to see more on the economy and jobs! They told me there is no way they will vote for Mitt, and were extremely disappointed in the GOP lineup. I had to agree, this was truly a sad lineup starting with Mitt, and ending with Bachman. The President took us out of Iraq, he took out Bin Laden, and the CIA loves him for his courageous decisions especailly with Bin Laden, and the pirates who held American hostage. He gave the order for Seal team six to go in and get the hostages and they did killing 9 pirates! Obama pressed for programs for those facing foreclosure. Obama came up with health reform, dispite teaparty members who spit and threw stones at black DFL politicians. They later fired gunshots through DFL office windows like the scum bags they are! Obama’s stimulus provided jobs despite the lies told by some rightwingers who actually lied when they told the media there were not jobs created! Some small businesses were able to hire workers, and it actually helped to get people who were laid off, back to work in a window company right here in MN! Obama’s work with the big three auto companies especially GMC put the company back on track and in the black! Chrysler was able to hire 1500 workers to build their new car in Illinois thanks to the Presidents programs. The President also made sure more funding was given towards Veterans, and we maybe out of Afghanistan next year? I would say the crap Obama was left with, I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Obama made the best of it, and turned some things around, no thanks to the GOP who fought him every step of the way! Even the job picture improved, which hurt the GOP who wanted to use it against him. I love the way Obama has kept it in check even as lies and contempt from the far right continue! The rally cry for 2012 is Obama and Women’s rights! I love it everyday I wakeup and Obama is the President. What is also great was that against all odds and all lies especially the mudslinging by the GOP candidates, Obama prevailed. No matter what happens they can’t take that away from the President, and it still tickles the heart to see him crush the GOP who really need to get their act and finances together! Those corporations who promised to fund them have backed out, and others are thinking the same way after the issues that came up about women…Hey Romney is loaded maybe he can fund the rest of his campaign? OBAMA 2012!!!

A prayer that called the President Liar in Chief? Who prayed the prayer? Was it a clergy person? Boy, if it was I would love to go to their open minded, non-partisan, welcoming, inclusive, ecumenical church. Not!

This “reporter” wasn’t honest or intelligent enough to realize that Kurt Bills is from Rosemount, not Roseville, and that he’s currently in a 4-way race for the GOP-endorsement to go against Klobuchar.
Kurt Bills speech mentioned BY NAME other people he was competing with for the endorsement. Dan Severson, a fellow-contender for the endorsement she claims that Bills already has, was on the schedule right next to Kurt Bills.
Lange CLEARLY didn’t pay attention to what was going on at this Tea Party, let alone listen to anything these speakers said — It’s apparent she came in hopes of justifying a narrative she’d already dreamed up … why would anyone, on this basis, proceed to trust her to pull good quotes from these speeches?
If she can’t be careful enough to get basic facts like this right, why would you trust her distortions?

I’m no big fan of Occupy, however, the “occupy movement” isn’t advocating the violent overthrow of our government. The “occupy movement” isn’t advocating the abandonment of our founding fathers’ basic principles, such as the separation of church and state. The “occupy movement” isn’t fighting to arm each of us (carry and conceal) and then fighting to legislate a statutory right to kill one another (stand your ground). The “occupy movement” isn’t trying to reshape our country with endless constitutional amendment initiatives aimed at fundamentally changing all that we have stood for for well over 200 years. The Tea Party is a cancer on the GOP and arguably the greatest threat to liberty this country has ever known.

I pray to God to accept these misinformed, xenophobic, hate filled old white folks into the gates of heaven. It’s hard to watch nice old folks be manipulated into voting against their best interests, much less leading them in hate filled “prayers” that will insure Gabriel’s refusal to allow them entrance into Heaven. Jesus does NOT approve. I sometimes speak directly with his Father, and he say’s the majority of churches today that preach such hate have completely lost the way of his teachings. Calling someone a “liar” in a prayer is a sin. 200+ people just sinned here in Willmar and they think they have God on their side? It’s sad to watch these nice old people be filled with so much misinformation and hate – is that what Jesus does?

Now, in their twilight years, are being taken advantage by the “Right” – who for some reason think their interpretation of the Bible is the only correct one – and are being ginned up with masterfully crafted hate filled prayers and misinformation from politicians and (sadly enough) directly from so called “churches”. Believe whatever you want, but know that God does not approve of his teachings to be used to spread hatred and fear. Those that pervert his teachings in such ways will NOT see the kingdom of heaven. Amen.

You are so ignorant, they are the right! What makes you think you are the only one who is right. This country wasn’t founded on big government, it was founded to get away from big government. It was founded on having religious freedom, not on no religion. Just because someone wants to stop government from getting bigger, and bigger, you think they are trying to opress the poor. We are spending money we don’t have. Will one of you who wants to keep spending, tell me you think we can spend our way out of debt? Is that the way you handle your finances? It’s time to rein back spending, not slow down the growth, but really cut it.

Your argument is ridiculous and has nothing to do with my posts. I was talking about Jesus and his teachings, not about religious freedom, taxes or any of your other tangents/insults. To open a “Tea Party Event” with a “prayer” that accuses the President of the United States of being a liar is what I am talking about. That right there goes against everything Jesus taught us – and then to recruit 200+ xenophobic (it’s not an insult, it is a condition of modern society) mostly old folks to pray those hate filled words against their better judgement, makes me very sad. Prayer should not be used in such a manner, and everyone there should know that.

oh, and i completely stand by misinformed. Xenophobia is a treatable condition. Being filled with hatred instead of love is a more difficult thing to cure. uh, no. It’s an example of prayer being used to prey on the (sadly) xenophobic tendencies of the elderly. God does not care about taxes or the deficit. God loves the entirety of his creation, including gays, muslims, atheists, and the occasional mormon. I’d be willing to bet everyone at the event would claim to be a Christian, correct? That their faith guides much of what they do? To take advantage of peoples faith and subvert it to political ends is a sin and it is exactly what the Tea Party is doing. God has no interest in hearing how much you hate someone, and to offer up prayers in such a manner is an insult to Christianity.

you can go to any event and believe anything you want freedom. If you want to believe that your freedom is being taken away or threatened, feel free. It’s odd you can’t name any of those said freedoms, but not surprising. Sounds like a little paranoia thrown in for good measure. Exactly the type of individual the GOP’s message is aimed at – and to continually use Jesus and his teachings as an excuse for their actions. God does not answer prayers of hate or war, your god maybe, but not mine. Why would anyone embrace America’s version of the Taliban? We’re at war with the Taliban. But has the reason for not increasing their tax, job creation, ever been proven to be true. There seem s to me, that at one time in our countries history, the entrepreneurs created new businesses and jobs. When they were making monies, they went back and took care of their workers, as they were the ones , who by their hard work, made them profitable. Now it seems, it has become just large corporations, and that they feel only the boardroom deserves the credit for bring profitable.

Tough for a lot of us to relate to someone with a quarter of a billion dollars, who pays less in taxes percentage wise than most of us, who is building an elevator in his garage for all of his cars, yet who insists he is just one of us. Yet another example of someone who was born on third base thinking he hit a triple. What fascinates me is how those on the Christian Right reconcile supporting one who is not a Christian. As Rick Warren pointed out, he is troubled by one who doesn’t believe in the Trinity. For many people it doesn’t matter if he is a Christian, an agnostic, an atheist, a Jew, or whatever. But for the very conservative Christian Right, I am sure they are struggling with what to do about Willard.

If it is the Romney who was governor of Mass. then a lot of moderates would be pleasantly surprised. But I think you would be very disappointed. What issues do you want to discuss? RomneyCare? The fact that Willard was pro-abortion, he supported tough gun control laws, state spending in Mass. increased by 24% in three years while he was governor, the fact that government fees were raised by millions of dollars while he was governor, or the fact that his father was born on a polygamy commune in Mexico because the Romney ancestors fled U.S. polygamy laws? These are all very interesting issues… Where should we start?

The only people who are concerned about the Presidents race is liberals and that is because it is easier to scream racisim then it is to face the fact that Obama is a failure at leading this country.
The so called “Romney Care” in Mass was a state level issue and decision. It is not a federal dictate and only impacts that state. Since it is clearly a state right I have no problem with that decision. Why do you care?
Lets start discussing you being a bigot and you hate of Mormons. I do not care about what Romneys ancestors did and where they did it. Why are you so concerned about this? How does this apply to today, why would liberals try to use their bigotry against Mormon’s to defeat Mitt?
I look at what Mitt commits to doing once he becomes President. When he ran for Gov. in Mass he did what he promised, I have no doubt that he will do what he promises to do once he takes office in Jan 2013.
On the other hand we have Obama who says one thing to us but then tells the Russians he will have more flexibilty after the campaign. Obama has no honor and will do anything to get elected for a 2nd term. Why would anyone trust him after that comment which clearly showed his true colors?

bac, you are so full of it. You have no idea of the differences between RomneyCare and ObamaCare. You say RomneyCare is “socialized healthcare” for which you are entirely wrong and saying ObamaCare was derived from, wrong also. Your post reminds one of the usual foray of the question “which came first, the chicken or the egg”.
Romney’s proposal was – either buy insurance or pay for your own care. Romney’s goal was finite and simple: to require the few who were sapping the Massachusetts’ taxpayers to ultimately pay for healthcare either by paying the state or by paying an insurance provider. These people who had no health insurance — fewer than 10% in Massachusetts — would now have to contribute if they wanted healthcare eitrher by buying a policy or paying cash for services. . That was it. Insurance companies were not nationalized, the State of Massachusetts did not become the default healthcare provider in that state.
Obama – In 2003, when starting his run for Congress he said , “I happen to be a proponent of a single-payer universal health care plan.I see no reason why the United States of America, the wealthiest country in the history of the world, spending 14 percent of its gross national product on health care, cannot provide basic health insurance to everybody. And that’s what Jim is talking about when he says everybody in, nobody out. A single-payer health care plan, a universal health care plan. That’s what I’d like to see. But as all of you know, we may not get there immediately. Because first we’ve got to take back the White House, we’ve got to take back the Senate, and we’ve got to take back the House.”
Also, in 2007, when starting his run for president, Obama said, “I don’t think we’re going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There’s going to be potentially some transition process.”
In 2008, Obama refined his position a bit, saying that his previous statements in support of single-payer were based on the supposition that if the U.S were building a health care system from scratch, then he would favor single-payer. But even then, he did not back down from his preference for single payer, at least in theory.
The fact is, Obamacare was originally going to be single payer. It was going to be European — as close to it as Congress would allow. But that was curbed. What they got, instead — what we got, instead — was the first step. Obamacare. The first step toward single-payer, universal healthcare coverage. That’s a lot bigger than just under 10%, and it is a heckuva lot more disruptive. When Obamacare gets implemented in 2014, we will have such a “disruptive” healthcare system, a major overhaul will have to be made ,for which, if Obama has control, we will be looking at a single payer system. JMHO, I hope it gets overturned. .
So bac, stop reading the union and daily memo talking points. At least do some research before you embarass yourself with your posts.

Hey Elton since you lack the information about Republicans not paying vendors in Minnesota, here is another true statement. Republicans owe 990 thousand dollars, and had a minus 7000 in the bank. Jimmy you are correct about the Republican deficit in Minnesota, I seen it on Channel five’s area news before going to work. The Democrats also had a bit of a deficit, something like 300 thousand, but had enough in the bank, plus they didn’t owe vendors. I also Googled the teaparty as you described, and also found the disturbing sites that I will not even repeat. I believe its disgusting, plus immoral that people want to act this way in regards to politics. I read the article about a Democratic politician having his gas line cut at his home. They suspected the teaparty in that area but didn’t have enough proof to say it was them?
However while I was in Chicago back in 2010, in the downtown area, some teaparty group was rallying and the rally began to turn ugly, as people began exchanging words with teaparty members. I gave up trying to understand the violence and uglyness that seems to go with politics at times. I also never understood the blatant disreguard and disrespect the Conservatives have for a sitting President?

That is his right to free speech, however I have long since quit watching on a regular basis, because of that. I think most conservatives respect the office of President, no matter who holds it. I think you believe if someone disagrees with him, that somehow that person must be bigoted. Sir you couldn’t be more wrong, I have had, and still do have friends who are not white, and they know I’m not racist! Furthermore if you listen to Mr Obama’s preacher, I challenge you to find anyone more racist. And I don’t understand how someone who is half white, seems to consider himself only black!

Joe it is no use for me to argue with the hard right, they don’t want to hear the truth. If you look they are quick to dislike my comments because at times the truth must hurt, and I do admit, I get a big kick out of it…..

joe raines posts jimmy d is right on his post of numbers for Rep debt of $900,000 and later says the number is $2 million. Not reading the current talking points memo?
At least your are getting one fact right – your names are joe raines and jimmy d.
Would you like to confirm the current Federal Debt and how much it has been raised over the past three and a half years? Oops, that should be “investments” and am still looking for the “returns” but the only part so far has been “return more money to Washington D.C.”.

Bobk that 900T debit was probably almost a month ago, so I am sure it ballooned. I also looked it up after Raines stated he found this debit on the Star Trib. Why should it make any difference Bob, because now the debit is twice as bad as I orignally stated?

jimmy, your recent post is probably why a lot of people go “dislike” on you. I think you mean’t $900,000, not Trillion.

I just googled “obama national debt”, the first article showed he has obligated taxpayers for almost $5 trillion. We get to pay that debt, each of us, our children, our grand children, or great grand children – get the picture?
How much will our children pay for the debts incurred by the Republican Party? Whats that you say, none? Bingo! You win a cookie (or if you prefer a shiney object…)!
Hey! Did you read about the so called “99%ers” and how they were dealing drugs, raping women, murdering, squating in private homes, stealing from local businesses, destroying public and private property, and being anti-semtic?
I bet you think that is just the coolist thing don’t you?

Elton where is your link at? I see the truth hurts which is why you shifted gears. This is about the Republican debt in Minnesota, you see Obama is already a sitting President and having debt means little. Oh, and the 99% you are putting down, well you are part of it, but don’t realize that the party you treasure is screwing you as well. Lets see Elton many of the 99% are also Republicans who are also not happy with Republicans going after SS, Medicare and Pensions. Again Elton why do you bring up people using drugs and damaging property when I told you what the teaparty was doing this, yet you denied it? Gee the truth really does bother you! Lets not get into people in general because some are also right wing loonies like Ted Nugent. I could go on but you may not like the things I have to say about Republicans getting caught doing the very things they speak out about. One thing is for certain neither party is innocent but be lucky you had liberals who fought for SS, Medicare, clean water and clean air. Also I am sure you are enjoying your SS and Medicare, and if you are not you will be!

My reasons for bringing up the Republican parties debts, and non payment of monies to businesses, and vendors is because they pride themselves as a party who claims to be fiscally responsibile. In fact they pride themselves on this myth, yet have failed to show it! The Republicans cry about Obama’s failed politics, yet they have plenty of failed policies including the 700B bailout lead by the ex CEO of Golden Sachs and Bushes right hand financial man who presented this win win deal for wealthy corporations, who they themselves failed and Republicans awarded them for failure. To show how fiscal responsibie they are, the tax payers had to pay for it, while they gave big business huge tax breaks! Then to throw salt into the wound, Republicans called Obama a socialist, when they themselves are guilty of this! I believe the Republican party actually doesn’t think people remember what a mess they left this country in, and how their so called fiscal responsibility is anything but a myth, just as their Religious views they merely use as an election platform! Elton why is when I present the hate shown by the teaparty goons and some rightwing radicals, you state I am the one hating? The facts speak for themselves. I am not hating I am laughing at the hypocrisy of the Republican party…Elton have another cup of tea…

Your hatefull, bigoted and racist comments have no place here or anywhere else jimmy. I only see comments like yours on liberal blogs, I cannot believe how closed minded your ilk is jimmy.
BTW, the Republican party debt is not my debt or your debt. Obama’s debt is mine, my childrens, my grand children’s, my great grand children’s – well I’m sure you get the picture…

All these lying people who post unrelated comments in response to your lying and posts that are completely unrelated to the topic?
Poor babe.
I’d suggest you go back to Rushs’ site. He obviously has a breast you can nurse at, and he’ll pat you on your little head and give you more rhetoric to divulge to us poor uneducated masses.

I think it’s sad that so many think the goverment can continue to rack up debt for future generations. WHY do you folks think the government is ok to do that? Why should the Federal Government be any different than any household or business? I’m curious if you liberals know there is a difference between, the federal debt and the federal deficit? Earlier in these posts I saw a change in the debate, from government debt to political party debt. Just above where I’m typing #2 item says stay on topic. The topic started out being about the TEA party, and unless I’m mistaken, most of the TEA party’s stance is based on what we are spending, and taxing. It’s great to debate a topic, but I see alot of name calling, when someone can’t get their way. You gave Elton a nice compliment when you said his responses were “mature”, too bad more responses aren’t mature.

Personally, I have never supported the two people who were in charge of the MN Republican party. I think they were both unqualified – more grandstanders, than strategists( much the same reaction Democrats had with Governor Howard Dean) . Cooler thinking heads would have gone about a different strategy but do give them credit for helping change the posture of the MN House and Senate. Those results we can see were positive to most of the people of Minnesota who pay taxes, probably not to those who have the view of unlimited spending as the primary responsibility of government. Limited spending has created surpluses in this down economy( as recognized in a lot of other states who tightened their belts regardless of governor from either party) which, in MHO, the Governor recognized in his compromise of the situation(his position selling trips to Owatonna and Albert Lea may have made him realize compromise was a better solution at the time). I give him credit for his recognition of that fact. I just hope he listens to himself in the future rather than the handlers who are making unwise decisions for him.

HEY Elton how does that crow taste? Seems the proof of the Republicans debits just showed up on the front page of the Trib! It seems Elton you will say and claim anything that covers for the hypocrisy and and double talk about Conservative fiscal responsibility! Remeber Elton I have no need or cause to lie or make up stories that have made the news, or are on the internet for anyone to see or research! I can honestly say whenever a hard right Conservative is cornered and has no defense for their rants, they begin the name calling, and accuse people who don’t agree of being a LIAR!
