Michelle Bachmann will also have to move if she wants to continue representing the district. Her home is no longer in the 6th legislative district.

M. Correct. The DFL Judges moved HER district 2 maybe 3 blocks away. DFLers plan won’t work again this time .

purple girl – by Mn Law she does not have to live in the district. Mandatory living in the district is a Democrat talking point. MN has a history of representatives “having an address” in the state but have never lived at the address.

bob it looks like Carl is confused on this matter as well since he was the one who questioned the residency of a candidate in his original post.

oh. according the MN Secretary of State’s website, legislators must live in the district they wish to represent for 6 months prior to November 2012. Unless I’m reading that wrong, that sounds like you must live there.

purple girl – you are quoting from a source which is questionable but you are right – but it pertains to state representatives and state senate office holders. The 6th Congressional office is a federal position.
If you will notice Graves, the Democrat candidate, lives in south Minneapolis.

As I recall Carl Rep Senator Craig went after Clinton and called for him to be impeached. Seems like Republicans are great at pointing fingers and using their Religious views to oppress those who have their own beliefs. Funny how Craig the leader of the call to stop gay marriage and gay rights, was looking for gay sex in a Minneapolis airport bathroom! This is nothing new for Republicans!

What is different jimmy is Republicans do whatever they can to get these guys out of office, unlike the Democrats who promote them to a higher position in the party.
And why not, they represent the values of the Democrat party.

jimmy, Craig was never a true Republican, he was a Democrat in sheep’s clothing.

Carl the law states that a person need not live in the district the represent but they must live in the State. And I highly doubt the lines were moved a mere two blocks, besides that were not the districts worked on by elected leader of both parties?

cpm3, the redistricting guidelines were studied, passed thru committee, reconciled with the State Senate version, and passed onto the Governor for signature. He and the State senate and house Democrats did not propose any guidelines nor submitted any plan to the various redistricting committees. With the Governor’s veto, this automatically sent it to the courts with which the Democrats suddenly had a plan they wanted the Court to hear. The Court decided where the lines would be based on the least amount of “changes” needed.

I hear you bob and I agree, like you said that the court approved the plan with “the least amount of changes” I am merely challenging Carl’s claim that one party alone moved Rep Bachmann’s district 2 blocks away from her home so that she would be out of the district.

cpm3. depends which version of the plan submitted by which group swayed their decision. The Dems and the LWV suggested that version.

One problem bob is that I don’t know where Representative Bachmann lives so it would be hard for me to know if the lines were moved like Carl stated.

Lets get this hypocrite Bachman out of poltics! She is an embarrassment to Minnesota, and for someone to hold a political office in Mn and use her views to attack some freedom of choices is disgusting. Her rating in the Presidential race were also telling, and no one, Republicans or Democrats could handle her radical views and she was failing from day one. I hope she pays all the bills she rang, Republicans have had a hard time paying vendors and businesses, which is why they support bankruptcy for Political candidates who fail to win office, and are stuck with bills. Here is the problem, when we fail no one bails us out!

not near as much as the # one Democrat John Edwards, and don’t forget, He will be with a Judge and Jury for many many weeks. M.B. Has never been in that position , only because SHE is not the type. Am not saying Democrat Sen. or President hope full John Edwards is, but only read the Head Lines, even in the Democrat media. If it is THERE, it is bad news for John and the Democrats, even though most of us figured that was coming, after all, Johns History with his Wife wasn’t so good. .

j d we read that you feel the same about women as president BHO and the DNC does. As you know and if you want to remember the now President BHO back in 08 wouldn’t touch mrs bill (h.r.) clinton and place her as V.P. The President and the DNC woke up the next day and found out the damage they did to their Female BASE. In order to spin, BUY, or try to undo the damage, THEY did t he next worse thing. The DNC told BHO to appoint HER to some high office in HIs administration , which HE so did . Rest is History, except some are slow learners in the DFL party and tear into Female members. I feel , not tooo smart of thinking, but I for sure wouldn’t say that in public, as j d did.

You get on here and want facts backed up, well that is what I am asking for as well and frankly I don’t appreciate your posting on this. With all due respect can you give us the dates of when these stories were published as I for one would like to read that for myself because if it is true I am disapointed that such a decision was made.

I think I’ve got it now. Rich democrat=good. Rich republican=bad. The dems have been trying to make a campaign issue over Romney’s wealth but when it comes to their own wealthy candidates like Jim Graves not a word. I can see why they are trying to make an issue over Romney’s wealth. They are trying to find anything they can to avoid talking about Obama’s record as prez. Michelle Bachmann has been a good representative for the people of her district. She is starting to build up seniority in the house and most likely is in line for some good congressional assignments. It would be a big loss to the people of Minnesota if she wasn’t able to continue to represent the people.
