Opposition to plan for 3M Cottage Grove incinerator gets heated
April 12, 2012 at 8:14 am in South Washington County Bulletin
MPCA officials tell resident there is nothing in 3M’s proposal to begin burning flammable wastes from sources outside the company that would prevent the agency from approving new permits for the facility. Continue Reading

Will the people be quiet about this issue if the MPCA finds no additional safety hazards to the community? 3M is well within their rights to use the incinerator in a clean, efficient way. Enough whining already! I’ve worked there, many of my relatives have worked there and miraculously, they’re fine! Show me the ill effects and I’ll become a believer. Until then, burn baby burn!

This anti-business group will never shut up. They have been proven wrong multiple times. There are more pollutants put out at a backyard bonfire than from this. Where is the petition against them.

Guess this still comes down to which came to Cottage Grove first, IMHO: the chickens screaming the sky is falling or the 3M egg. Until my children grow 7 toes and an eye on their forehead, I still find the place safe to live. Especially since people working at 3M also live in the air we breathe.

It will be to late to act when the children have seven toes and an eye on their forehead. The damage will already have been done.

See the recent findings on DuPont? My well is contaminated w/the same crap thanks to 3M. We have 2 huge filters in our basement thanks to 3M. Our property value has gone down thanks to 3M. 3 people along the property line have breast cancer, 2 cases of Lou Gherigs on my street (no genetic relation) and a neighbor just died of Pancreatic cancer…coincidence? An extra eye would be a blessing compared to cancer which IS happening. They’ve already contaminated the ground and water, do you really want to “wait and see” what burning lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, dioxins, volatile organic compounds, law enforcement waste (including meth, heroine, cocaine)…13 pages of chemicals. The nanoparticles from this stuff is wicked. Why take our chances and “wait and see” what illnesses this will cause. I do not want to be 3Ms guinea pig!! This is in no way anti-business, that is ridiculous. 3M is only requesting to burn outside waste so they can save $2,000,000 a year. That is a drop in the bucket to them and they are willing to risk human and envirnmental health for very minimal savings. It is commen sense that this should not be happening in a residential area! I guess ignorance is bliss to some.
