Fantastic. A beautiful festival that incorporates learning and traditions without public funds.

Tourism Tax Money funds Visit Duluth. Visitors (and residents) paying taxes at hotels and eateries provide that money. Visit Duluth recruits more stuff to generate more money to justify their existance. And the cycle continues and a couple of people end up with jobs that otherwise wouldn’t.

Yes. Visit Duluth pays the ships. They also sell the tickets and generate revenue that way. So it’s funded by the users – both the consumers, the taxpayers, and in many cases both. But the real value is in filling up our hotels, restaurants, and bars for 3 or 4 straight days that we would otherwise not.

Using that mindset, the Bayfront Blues Festival and Grandma’s Marathon also would fit the bill.
God forbid we promote our city.

Went down for the last tall ships saw many police officers dirting trafic believe the city paid for them, was charged entry fee where did that money go? cost to go out on the ship who got that money? No problem with spending BUT do not say that public funds aren’t used
