Less than a week after St. Louis County commissioners unanimously voted to oppose plans for Duluth’s second methadone clinic, the Duluth City Council may follow suit.

The truth is, that people from other areas are often sent to these clinics, because the person needing treatment also needs to get away from their current situations. Many times or most of the time, they end up supported by the taxpayers….talking housing, health care, transportation, and even education. They then end up living where the clinic is located, cured [?] or not.

I was prescribed Methadone by a pain clinic physician several years ago. I had requested a medication that was not addictive, but helped with a pain problem. It turned out the Methadone was the most highly addictive medication that I have ever taken. This drug quickly turned me into an “addict.” I did not want to eat, lost a lot of weight and soon lived from “pill to pill” even before I knew I was addicted. After figuring out this drug was going to kill me one day, I quit cold turkey. It was a horrendous withdrawal that lasted several weeks. I can understand why people THINK methadone is a good way to get off heroin and other substances, but I think this drug is one of the most addictive in the world and is just the same withdrawal as heroin and other narcotics. METHADONE IS REPLACING ONE ADDICTIVE SUBSTANCE WITH ANOTHER…YOU JUST BECOME AN ADDICT OF A DIFFERENCE SUBSTANCE.

Are you sure you don’t want the clinic due to race, sex, age, religion, sexual preference or color? Isn’t it nice that we can pick our neighbors now…and we can get the local government to do it for us.
