The pledge to get along came after the council spent the better part of an hour fighting over how their votes should be documented in the city record. Continue Reading

wow! So what was the disagreement about, I mean the exact points of contention? It seems obvious to me that the reporter has a severe dislike of council member Lehrke. Give us more facts and less he said/she said comments.

I think the article is very clear on what happened at the meeting to cause the disagreement. Does Mr. Lehrke intend to bring this style of “governing” to the State Capitol? As far as I’m concerned this is all the more reason to support Dan Schoen for SD 54A State Representative.

Kevin – we need less people like Mr. Lehrke. The disagreement was based on how Derrick was portrayed in the minutes of the previous meeting. The previous meeting, there was a vote, Derrick was the lone councilmember to vote against it. As they started to move on, Derrick realized he didn’t understand the vote and was actually in support of what they voted on. He asked the Mayor if they could do a voice vote, so he could vote affirmative. The mayor complied and Derrick changed his vote, so it was unanimous. Derrick thought the meeting minutes would reflect that the vote passed unanimously, however, the minutes actually reflected the entire events of what occurred. He was upset at being named, for public record, as initially being against the proposal. He thought the minutes should just reflect the voice vote and that it would say it was unanimous. If you don’t believe me, go watch the CG city council meeting of March 21 on the SWCTC website – it is all there. They spent 45 minutes first debating what actually happened and then debating how it could be ammended to make Derrick look better. He even admitted he wasn’t paying attention, which is why he voted wrong the first time. Right…we need more people to support him? There is waste in government, and it is Derrick Lehrke.
