No sulfide mines without escape-proof plan

There is no guarantee that sulfide-mining contamination can be cleaned up, especially in the kind of water rich environment of Minnesota. There are many places in the U.S. they are still attempting to do so. In fact, right here in Minnesota at the Dunka Mine they have not been able to clean up leaching from a taconite mine in the sulfide bearing Duluth Complex. Minnesota needs a “prove it first” law with the toughest financial assurance we can write. Financial assurance alone is worthless if no amount of money can clean something up.
