School district budget cuts are taking shape

At a Monday night workshop, elementary, middle and high school principals outlined packages of budget reductions they expect to make away from the classroom. So far, at least, those proposals lean much more heavily on reductions in several areas than they do on the elimination of individual positions. Continue Reading

Is it possible for the press to show a ledger of budget items. i.e. labor, pension and heath insurance expenditures as well as capital expenditures so we the citizens can form an informed opinion.
I would hate to come across as retorical when commenting my views of the process in which it would appear as though the school board and this publication seem to be carrying the water for the teachers union.

it seems as though every one dislike my comments, how about leaving yours? Do you think teachers should be entited to automatic salery increases and cadilac benifit packages with out ever having them scaled back by market forces? Every one would agree that quality education is the goal. here is a provocative proposal on teachers pay. Have teacher pay based soaly on a parent paying them directly per student. each teacher who is worth their salt would be in great demand and could raise their price, however the less desirable ones would find an empty class room waiting for them and would either cut their price or get out of the profession.
now I wonder how many “likes” this will attract.

Speaking of water, the district leadership we have today should be glad they are not having to fund the operation of a Sportplex.
