The needs are not greater than anyone thought just a few months ago, just Jack is playing catchup again. Good thing he stole the idea from Ryan Taylor to actually go out with the agencies and listen a bit to what is happening. He mostly used it as an opportunity to brag about the $1.2 billion which is at least $550 million short of needs but it’s a start.
Too bad he played with the financial projections for this biennium or the state actually could have spent enough to really start to get ahead of the problems, as it is, it’s still day late, dolllar short. Jack’s willing, he just doesn’t seem to have many original thoughts so he’s always behind.
Next up, Jack will find to his amazement that the schools need some cash too. He will deliver it just a bit too late for the schools to have a reasonable chance of having classrooms ready for this fall. They should have known where they stood for funding in January for proper planning. Day late, dollar short.
