Wisconsin NewsWashington County District Attorney Mark Bensen said the unidentified homeowner acted in self-defense under Wisconsin’s new “castle doctrine” law. Bo Morrison of West Bend was among those scampering from a nearby underage drinking party the police raided on March 3. Continue Reading

@Rayme. I, for one, never broke into someones house to escape the police. It was stupid for this young adult to do it. Although it is unfortunate that he was killed I am not so sure I would have acted any differently than the home owner when confronted with the situation.
There will be more situations like this I am sure; but eventually idiots like this will realize that they could be making a life ending choice and opt for a different idea.

He did unlawfully enter the residence(the door was unlocked). I suspect when he raised his hand it was a natural reaction to having a gun pointed at you. Gun owners are not trained as police are to make the snap judgement about whether to shoot or not. With the proliferation of gun ownership and a the culture of fear we live in I’m afraid we’re going to see more and more of this. I know in our home over the past twenty plus years there would have been several shootings had we been quick to grab the gun.

Just so I’ve got this straight. An “unidentified” homeowner calls the police about a loud party. Bo Morrison, one of the partiers, runs and hides on the homeowners porch. The homeowner comes out, shoots and kills Mr. Morrison when he steps out and raises a hand.
Nice. Police and military have to “justify” their killings. With Walkers “Castle Doctrine” we can get away with murdering anyone on our porch. Anytime. And not face consequences. Don’t have to justify jack. Let the tea party begin!
I hope the “unidentified” homeowner will sleep well knowing that he has protected his loved ones from a 20 year old young man that liked to drink a beer or two.

this is not what the castle doctrine is about. althoug it may protect you, you dont go looking for trouble. the FL case comes to mind…
its there so you dont have to try to escape out a window of your OWN home….
