Conservative ‘super PAC’ group blasts Heitkamp
March 22, 2012 at 3:52 am in Grand Forks Herald
An influential conservative special-interest group says Democrat Heidi Heitkamp’s pledges of fiscal responsibility smack of hypocrisy given spending decisions she made in her tenure as North Dakota attorney general in the early 1990s. Heitkamp is running for U.S. Senate. Continue Reading

Keep Karl Rove out of North Dakota politics. It was his advise to Bush that created the economic mess and the wars in Iraq and now he’s got the nerve to give us advise about our politics? No thanks, Karl.

Not quite far enough Realist…..Keep Rove out of Politics totally….He should be kept out by being behind bars along with the rest of the Crime Inc. at Cheney’s command for eight years…

The reason Heidi is getting attention at the top levels of the Republican party is because they know Berg is in trouble. I can assure you they have already privately polled voters in ND and the results were probably not very good.

Heitkamp was leading Berg by 5% in the latest poll, and that race is being billed as one of the top three Senate races in the country this fall and one of just a handful that experts think the Democrats have a chance to regain. Berg has a serious image problem in the state, even within his own party.
You should be thankful for all the “Three Stooges” did for North Dakota in Washington. Hoeven is a good man too but it will take years for him to regain the clout Dorgan or Conrad had. Dorgan, Conrad and Hoeven all have the ability to work across party lines. Tea Party endorsed Berg will just add to the problem in Washington where the two major parties are at polar opposites and cannot work together to get anything done. The Tea Party in particular will split and ruin the Republican party.

Most of the debt is a result of fighting two wars while cutting taxes. Note that I didn’t make a value judgement about the need for the wars — I’m simply pointing out that in all previous American history taxes were RAISED to pay for wars.
Trying to stick the debt on the ND congressional democrats while ignoring the above is nothing more than an ideological delusion.

Two wars and tax cuts did not cost $15,000,000,000,000. It was just those three, it is all of the clowns that have been there for decades, making deals and overspending; both dems and repubs.

Take the ideology blinders off, the “Tax and Spend” Democrats under Bill Clinton managed to get the budget under control, I personnally would like to return to that, rather than going back to failed Republican practices. Geez, when Clinton was in it actually looked like I would be able to retire. Kind a lost all of that security over the following years.

Chins, the Dems got the budget in control and didn’t let the Republicans gut social programs. The difference is that with just Republicans in control, they will try to balance the budget on the backs of working people and give tax breaks to the rich. Under Clinton, he didn’t let that happen and we were able to balance the budget without hurting the middle class. See? That’s the difference in philosophy that makes the GOP very dangerous. Especially now that compromise is a dirty word in the Republican lexicon, if they win the election we can look forward to a different America with the rich getting richer and the middle class and poor working until they die.

Nothing to show for it? Most objective analyses seem to indicate that Obama led us away from a full blown depression. Oh, but that would have been good for the “working poor” eh?

Oh yes, Obama and the libs saved us from a depression and have all the answers and solutions to all of our problems yet cannot do a thing about $4.00 gas! Maybe if he overspends another $5,000,000,000,000 he can lower it a nickel or dime and create some “saved” jobs again.

Hoevan wasn’t bad as a Govenor, but as a Senator he’s basically joined lock step with the GOP and votes the party line….Who needs that? If he want’s to represent ND then he needs to do so and not the GOP

He’s the new guy so he gets to do butt duty. All he’s done lately is carry water for the Republican leadership on issues of peripheral interest to our state; like the pipeline that’s not even going through ND and having to talk about reproduction. Hoeven, talking about womens’ privates. He almost choked on the word “ovarian”.

Just a question: why doesn’t the Herald use an actual, current picture of Ms. Heitkamp?
Also, I noticed that everyone but Ms. Heitcamp made the front page of the Herald during the Dem’s convention – I think that there was one, very small, group picture she was in, but that was it. Miniscule compared to what others received…

They had a really bad shot of her at the convention last week and she seemed quit a bit older looking than this picture….In fact I think the photo I saw prior to that one she looked maybe 20 years older looking than this……But this could be a studio stock picture compared to reality picture. I guess she just needs a camera in front of her more rather than a radio mic (If she’s still doing that…..I don’t think she can once she decides to run can she?)

I wasn’t saying anythig disparaging about her. I just meant that there’s not a lot of photos out there that I’ve seen, and the ones I have seen seem to sharply contrast the age between this photo and the others I’ve seen. So perhaps she needs to get in front of the camera more so it doesn’t appear like someone is slipping in a younger looking picture of her because that could really come back to bite her if people think that……Hey…I really like her and want to see her suceed….

It’s interesting that none of those guys that advocated torture, including Cheney and Bush himself can travel outside the United States withour fearing that they will be arrested and hauled off to face charges in Geneva for war crimes. Recently, Cheney declined an invitation to Canada ostensibly because of security concerns, but it’s entirely possible it was to keep from getting arrested. Same with Bush. He can’t go to Europe. And there’s a string of others in the same boat. There’s a certain justice to that.

As bad as that was…How many people on both sides have been killed in a war they frabricated? Betwen that and other treasons like Valerie Perrine (Not sure on that spelling) There should be several hangman nooses waiting for all of them…..I know the president couldn’t touch any of this the first time around without it totally overwhelming anything he tried to do as president, but to let them just go on without ever having to answer for anything……Imagine if it was Democrats…..hell….The Fox party wants blood for any little thing much less something like that….

Well, there was that little thing with GWB granting ‘everlasting immunity’ to all his co-conspirators before his term was ended, remember that? The legality of it was questioned at the time, but it seems to have been brushed aside.
Rove was the #1 recipient, if I remember correctly.

He said it was to keep CIA agents from being prosecuted for doing their jobs as they were told to do them, but you’re right, I think they were given immunity. Of course, that’s only good in the US.

Ok…Off topic, but relatable…Cheney gets a heart transplant at 71….First off….Why finally get a heart now when he’s obvioulsy been operating without one for many decades….It’s really troubling after all he and Rove did to this country that he is getting a heart that could possibly be going to someone far more deserving…..Oh and to you Affordable Health Care bill haters….He’s getting it totally free on the taxpayers dime…Someone who doesn’t deserve it, and could easily pay for it out of pocket change is getting it paid for by all of us….Something to think about next time you go off the deep end about general health care affordability for all of us….
