Members of the City Council and Administrative Staff: Many people support your decision on the Bluewater Services decision. Thank you for taking a stand against companies that think they can do business in a way which can easily be interpreted to mislead their potential customers. You have done the right thing for the citizens you represent.

I agree with you, Mark.
When I got the mailing from Bluewater, my first impression was that Bluewater was claiming to be the one official installer. Multiple indicators on the mailing suggested this was an official mailing. My BS detector went off, and so I gave the mailing another closer examination. It still looked like Bluewater was trying to say it was the chosen installer. I believed this to be false, just from remembering other articles and conversations on this topic, and could not imagine the city giving a monopoly to a firm outside the city.
I am glad that the city attorney has dropped a cat hair in Bluewater’s milk. They deserve it.

Tom, the particular format in advertising used by Bluewater is particularly egregious when used to sell products or services to many of our senior and other vulnerable citizens. It is misleading, and is designed to be so. It has no place in any circumstance of truly open and informative marketing.
