N.D. gubernatorial candidate Taylor chooses running mate
March 14, 2012 at 7:01 am in Grand Forks Herald
North Dakota Democratic governor candidate Ryan Taylor has chosen former Valley City State President Ellen Chaffee as his running mate. Taylor and former first lady Jane Sinner announced the selection today in Fargo.

I really liked Gomer. He may have been simple, but Gomer had character, something in short supply in many of today’s politicians. However, if anyone has heard Taylor speak or read what he has written, they would recognize that Taylor is a thoughtful, highly intelligent, articulate, concerned North Dakotan. He seems to me to be cut from the same stock as former North Dakota governor Art Link. I suppose Link could have been compared to Gomer Pyle too.

He must be trying to attract the educrat vote. Taylor wears the hat to hide his bald spot.

Let’s see. Comments so far: He’s looks bad; he wears a silly hat; he’s got a bald spot; he reminds me of a a silly TV show character. That about cover it?
Nothing about his policy positions, his choice of running mate (except she’s educated = scary!), or the issues for voters.
All this tells me the republics have nothing important to say.

At least it’s a trough and not a gutter like some Republicans we know.

I really have nothing against Dalrymple, but he will never throttle Al Carlson. I DO have something against those like you, Mr. Brain (???), who accuse Democrats of feeding at the trough. (BTW- I am not a Democrat–nor am I a Republican.). Check out this URL: http://farm.ewg.org/persondetail.php?custnumber=A10914326
Dalrymple Farms trails only Johnson Farms of Walhalla in federal subsidies for North Dakota farms receiving federal subsidies. Dalrymple farms received well over $4 million dollars from 1995-2010. Ryan Taylor, on the other hand, received slightly under $32,000 over the same time period. Looks to me like “Piggy Taylor” didn’t get very close to the trough.

I wouldn’t know what difference it makes. Being an independent who has almost always voted for the Republican candidate for president, but who has also voted for Conrad, Dorgan, and Pomeroy, I care what Taylor thinks…and it is obvious to me that he does think. He has the interests of North Dakotans at heart. He does not oppose energy development but believes, as I do, that the developers need to be required to leave the landscape in as good condition as possible.
Art Link provided leadership in crafting the legislation that required the coal companies to reclaim the land they stip-mined. The reclaimed land looks beautiful. The coal companies boast about the great job they’ve done. While they have done a great job in reclaiming the strip-mined land (Check out the land east of Hazen.), they would not have done that without legislation that required them to do it. I’m old enough to remember how hard they resisted that legislation. We need leadership to place similar requirements upon the oil developers. Taylor will do that. Dalrymple, I do not believe, will be an effective leader in that way.
Managing the growth in western North Dakota should not be a partisan issue. What has happened to this point happened so quickly that one can’t really blame our state government for having dropped the ball, but we certainly should have our eyes opened enough now to realize that we have to control the players that are playing on our field.

Principles?? What edifying principle prompts you to write what you have written? You haven’t addressed a single issue other than party affiliation.
I have good friends who are Democrats and good friends who are Republicans. Though I may disagree with both on certain issues, I respect both. I realize that we all see the world through the lens of our own personal experiences. I have seen people of both parties who are great people and people of both parties who are jerks. I wonder what events in your life have convinced you that you can automatically know and write off everything about a person simply by his party affiliation.

Sorry Brain, even the Republicans agree that Obama is a moderate. Even his own left wing thinks he’s too moderate. You can’t just make stuff up and expect people to take you seriously. Admit it: you are one of the Obama haters and absolutely nothing he does will change your mind because it is closed tighter than a bear trap.

A “moderate”? That is the funniest thing I’ve heard since the last time one of his leftist apologists said it. Maybe Obama could try doing something I like so I could see if I could learn to like him, so far nothing. “Moderate” I can’t stop laughing, and you accuse me of making things up. If you guys like Taylor and that’s the best you can do he’s a sure loser.

Mr. Brain, I am not an Obama apologist, but I shudder at the thought of what might have happened without the stimulus. GM and Chryler are now healthy. Had they been allowed to fail, who knows how bad things would be now?

Ryan Taylor is a down to earth North Dakotan. He will rein in the oil industry that Dalrymple has let run wild. We need to protect our states natural beauty, not destroy it. Ryan wears a cowboy hat because he is a cowboy. Elect Ryan Taylor not a republican hog feeding at the trough.
