Water meter advertisement causes confusion
March 8, 2012 at 7:10 am in Lake County News-Chronicle
A letter sent to Two Harbors residents last week from a Duluth plumbing and heating company instructing them to call for a required water meter installation has left some homeowners with the impression that doing business with the company is mandated by the city. Continue Reading

The good people of Two Harbors should not do business with this Bluewater Services firm. Anyone who would send information presented in a form as their letter, very likely intending to create a misconception to drum up business for themselves, does not appear to be the type of firm I’d want to have install my meter.

It`s a con game they are playing. Word it to the edge and hope nobody catches it. I hope they get not one single person to go hire them for this….and they loose money on the advertising alone.

Bluewater installed a new furnace for me a year or so ago, and were very nice and easy to work with. I do believe they could have worded the letter a little different but I doubt they meant to cause such big confusion. I am trying to find the business card they left with me so I can call the guy who was here first hand and ask him what went wrong. In a small town such as two harbors people talk big, and rumors run rampant. I’d rather find out the whole truth before condemning anyone, especially when they’ve done very nice work for me in the past. Personally i think the local shops probably didn’t like having larger competition and wanted them out so used the opportunity of an assertive ad to be offended and tried get rid of them. After all, who’s related to whom around here?

This is not a case of confusion on the homeowners part. Bluewater printed these “ads” on official looking card stock with an outer face, when folded for mailing, clearly marked in bold and capital letters “OFFICIAL CITY INFORMATION”. On the inside, again in bold typeface and in capital letters, it says “ACTION REQUIRED BY INDIVIDUAL HOME OWNERS” …”must (now underlined) contact Bluewater Services” and “REQUIRED: CONTACT BLUEWATER SERVICES”. The bottom of the page is even printed “BLUEWATER SERVICES CITY OF TWO HARBORS PAGE 1″ clearly suggesting that this company is working by authority of or an agent of the City. This is clearly an attempt Bluewater to dupe the consumer and I hope the City Attorney takes appropriate action.
