If you remember, he had a conflict when he was appointed. He was a lecturer in the Minnesota Humphrey school, he did not think that was a conflict either. But, it was.

chuck, tell the whole story. The Regents determined there was a conflict of interest and Swiggum resigned his position. Might add, fyi, he self funded the position thru donations he secured.

Bobk where do you see anything about Dean Johnson? I only read about Sviggum? I thought it wasn’t political with you when you claim to be impartical about political issues a while back when you responded to another reader?. Well Bob you sure dropped the ball on Rush, because if you really were not making anything political out of what Rush done, you would have denounced Rush for his disgusting and irresponsible actions towards this women, who cares what she may or may not represent, you don’t act unprofessional while representing a radio station, and it was more like you were making excuses for him? As for Svigium he did it to himself, and as for Dean I could care less, right now he isn’t being looked at.

Bob didn’t that happen in 2010 too? Wasn’t there a sitting Regent who got replaced by either former Rep Brod?
Whatever happened to the proposal that would have required time between the ending of serving in legistlature and starting on the aboard of Regents?

cpm3, don’t think there has ever been a proposal regarding the appointment of regents. I do know there is a time period with regards to legislators and their lobbying former fellow legislators. “Former state legislators must not register as lobbyists within one year from the date they leave office.”
